Universal Studios will be releasing this coming 16th of August, along with the regular Steelbook release
of Jaws
(Der weiße Hai, 1975, Steven Spielberg), a Jaws Collectors Edition SteelBook
exclusive to Amazon in Germany. This set comes with a 296-page book, and is available for pre-
order online for the
price of €99,99.
Included in this Collectors Edition:
Steelbook with Blu-ray + Digital Copy
296-page English-language book "Memories from Martha's Vineyard"
Ridiculously overpriced! The standalone steelbook edition is €18. So basically they charge €80 for that book...!
It's available separately for $33. What's up with Universal in Germany? Have they gone nuts?
Thinking also about the pathetic "collector's edition" of E.T.; €160 for a stupid, ugly plastic toy.
I wonder what nutcases are really buying both their merchandise strategies and the products themselves...
I love how they can use the name "Jaws" on the book, but not the actual disc. pretty ridiculous. I can't see many fans wanting their Jaws steelie to say "Der Weisse Hai".
I mean, gimme a break.
Yeah, heaven forbid they use a German title for a German release. English isn't spoken everywhere, people. The book is in English because it was only printed in English.
There is a Best buy exclusive Digibook available upon release instead of the plain Blu ray/slipcover edition. You would think Universal would go all out for one of their original Jewels in their crown.
Best Buy will have a digibook, but everyone seems in the dark as to why these classic American titles get special packaging in other countries except for the U.S. I mean the movies were produced here for heaven's sake. Does anyone have any clue? Strange. Ultimately it's the movie that matters, but Region A people would like the choice for collectibles too
