In September, Eagle Rock Entertainment will bring Produced by George Martin to Blu-ray. This feature-length documentary lets legendary record producer Sir George Martin tell his own story, as he covers everything from his early chidlhood to the ramifications of his historic partnership with The Beatles.
From Eagle Rock's official synopses:
"In the early '50s, he joined EMI/Parlophone and started working on orchestral music, music for children, and single-handedly pioneered a range of hugely successful comedy records with Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan, Peter Ustinov, and others. Then, in 1962, he signed The Beatles and everything changed. Together, George Martin and The Beatles revolutionized pop music and recording techniques, forging probably the greatest producer/artist collaboration there will ever be. Produced By George Martin features numerous classic clips of the artists he has produced and new interviews with many of them including Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Michael Palin, Jeff Beck, Rolf Harris, Cilla Black, Millicent Martin, and Bernard Cribbins."
While the complete technical and supplementary specifications for the Blu-ray are still unknown, Eagle Rock has promised "over fifty minutes of additional interviews" not seen when Produced By George Martin first aired as part of BBC2's Arena series.
Produced by George Martin streets on September 11th.
Arguably the greatest music producer ever. Everyone knows his work with the Beatles, but he's done work for America, UFO, Cheap Trick, and countless others. Will definitely be checking this out!
Also worth pointing out that Eagle Rock has quickly become one of my favorite home video companies over the past few years, as a die-hard classic rock/metal fan. They rarely fail to please.
