In September, Lionsgate Home Entertainment will bring The Cabin in the Woods to Blu-ray. Created by Drew Goddard (Cloverfield) and Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), this postmodern horror comedy focuses on a group of young people (Kristen Connolly, The Happening; Chris Hemsworth, The Avengers; Anna Hutchison, Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior; Fran Kranz, Dollhouse; and Jesse Williams, Brooklyn's Finest) whose vacation at a secluded mountain cabin suddenly turns into a brutal fight for survival.
The initial attacks suggest a menace not dissimilar from the horrors found in pictures like The Evil Dead or Friday the 13th - in this case, the monsters are a pain-loving tribe of zombie frontierspeople. However, as the body count rises, the survivors begin to suspect the influence of a far more insidious behind-the-scenes presence, one whose actions mask darker and more complex intentions.
Lionsgate's Blu-ray/Digital Copy combo pack presents the film in its 2.39:1 original aspect ratio with a 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. The disc also includes the following supplements:
Audio commentary with writer/director Drew Goddard and writer/producer Joss Whedon

Very happy with the Blu-Ray being packed with Special Features! Kinda weird they waited this long to announce it,only to put it out the week before Avengers,I was really expecting for it to come out the same week, but looking forward to owning 1 of my 2 Favorite Movies of the Year so far(Tied with Avengers!) either way!
One of the craziest movies i've ever seen, yet it's hilarious from beginning to end. I'll be picking this up for sure, but I might wait for the price to drop just a bit. If you're a horror fan in general you'll dig this movie.
I was doing Google searches literally every single day on "Cabin in the Woods Blu-ray release date." So happy to finally be able to bring this movie home. Day 1!!!!!!
Holy moley... the litany of must-have September releases is making me glad that Sept. 18 is my birthday! Avengers. Arachnophobia. Bond 50. Cabin in the Woods. Devil's Advocate. Ed Wood. The Game. Halloween III: Season of the Witch, Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection, Indiana Jones Collection, Judge Dredd, Titanic 3D. Start saving your pennies y'all.
This is by far one of the best, and craziest movies I've ever seen in a theater. It was so good, I had to see it again. I even bought the illustrated companion book, and it was amazing. This is a day one purchase for me (although my birthday is 10 days later...but I know I'm going to want to watch this the day it comes out, so early birthday gift, perhaps?).
