British distributors Entertainment One have revealed that they are planning to bring to Blu-ray director David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis (2012), starring Robert Pattinson, Juliette Binoche, Mathieu Amalric, Samantha Morton, Jay Baruchel, and Paul Giamatt. The preliminary release date set by the distributors is October 8th.
Earlier this year, Cosmopolis was screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
Robert Pattinson stars in David Cronenberg's adaptation of the novel by Don DeLillo. Eric Packer (Pattinson) is a 28-year-old finance billionaire who sets out to cross New York City in his luxurious white stretch limo to get to a hairdressing appointment. But it soon becomes apparent that the city is in turmoil, and Packer's journey is obstructed by various traffic jams caused by a presidential visit to the city, widespread rioting, and several uncanny encounters with his ex-wife. Meanwhile, his empire seems to be collapsing around his ears, and he becomes increasingly certain as the day wears on that someone is trying to kill him.
As a fan of David Cronenberg, I'm really looking forward to Cosmopolis. Its US theatrical release can't come fast enough. This is one of those instances in which I'm already planning to buy the blu-ray disc of the movie before I've even seen the film (though, come to think of it, that's not so unusual for me).
