Next month, Kino Lorber will bring They Made Me a Fugitive to Blu-ray. Director Alberto Cavalcanti's classic film noir - released in America as I Became a Criminal - stars Trevor Howard (Brief Encounter) as a cynical war veteran who descends into a life of crime.
From Kino's official synopsis:
"Clem (Howard)...[is] a hardened and disillusioned ex-serviceman who gets drawn in to the dangerous and thrilling world of black-marketeering in the seedy underbelly of post-WWII London. He works for a psychotic crime boss, Narcy (Griffith Jones, Henry V), who betrays him when Clem refuses to deal drugs, setting off an intense revenge story in the best film noir tradition."
Kino's Blu-ray presents the film, newly restored by the BFI National Film Archive and the Film Foundation, in a 1.33.1 aspect ratio with a monaural LPCM audio track. The distributor has not yet listed any bonus supplements.
They Made Me a Fugitive is expected to street on July 24th.
