In the fall, Paramount Home Media Distribution will bring Pet Sematary to Blu-ray. Adapted by bestselling author Stephen King from his own novel, this horror-thriller examines the supernatural happenings surrounding a small-town pet cemetery.
From Paramount's official synopsis:
"[The film] tells the story of Louis and Rachel Creed (Dale Midkiff, The Crow: Salvation, and Denise Crosby, Star Trek: The Next Generation) and their two children, an average family who move into an idyllic home in the countryside to begin what promises to be a perfect new life. Unfortunately, their dream home sits next to a pet cemetery with a horrible and dark secret. When a family tragedy causes Louis to become unhinged with grief, he pays a visit to the cemetery and unleashes an unspeakable evil on the world."
Paramount's Blu-ray presents the film in its 1.85:1 original aspect ratio with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. The disc also contains the following supplements:
Commentary by director Mary Lambert
Stephen King Territory with the author delving into both the film's locations as well as the origins of his novel
Best Stephen King movie ever (well, there was "The Dead Zone"...so maybe not...), and my second favorite horror film of all time (after...you guessed it..."The Thing [1982]"). Incredibly underrated!
I don't know, maybe it was because I'm a huge SK fan and I read the book first but I thought the movie was okay. Granted, it was one of the better adaptations but still. It does a creep tone and some great scenes but it doesn't manage to capture the creepiness of the book.
Kruger, Pet Sematary (did I spell that correctly [incorrectly]) is light years ahead of its sequel. You truly don't know what you're missing...I can definitely recommend the blind buy.
Paramount has been doing some great slip covers lately this one looks like it'll be a nice one next to Chinatown and barbarella although ultimately I would have preferred the original poster
Didn't like this movie then and don't like it now. Started the demise of SK movies and books. Only saving grace of this movie is Fred Gwynne. A waste of time and money imho.
One of my favorite horror movies of all time. It examined the fear of untimely death in a terrifying way and reminded people how important it is to let go. Day 1 for me.
She will give you nightmares similiar to the nightmares I had when Ralphie Glick floats up to his brother's window in the Tobe Hooper version of "Salem's Lot!"
Yeah scary movie indeed...they don't make horror movies like they use to. The horror movies from the 70's and 80's will always be better than the ones coming out today.
wow! serious who are the freakin' TROLLS who come on here and NEG everyone's POSITIVE comments about a movie they like!?!? This shit is really getting out of hand. If you don't like a movie, FINE! to each his own. You don't even have to click the link to see it any further....BUT NOOOOOO! every link I click, I see people who are HAPPY that their favorite movies are finally getting a Blu-ray release only to be met by a NEG for their positive comment! WTF!?!?!? Mods seriously need to fix this! Sorry for venting here but this thread was a pretty good example of what I'm talking about.
I'm coming for you Racheal and this time I'll get you. Gage and I will get you for letting us die! I hated this movie whe I saw it in the theater. It was too depressing. But when I was delivering a pizza to friends who were watching it on VHS I stayed longer than I should and watched 15 minutes of it and fell in love with it. I then bought my own copy of it later that day as well as the soundtrack on CD. I love Pet Semetary due to its creepy tone and atmosphere but I'll never forget the music and with a dts 5.1 MasterAudio track this Blu will be yummy!
