FUNimation Entertainment has announced that they will bring two more Dragon Ball Z films to Blu-ray. Following the success of their 'Dragon Ball Z: Broly Double Feature' release, FUNimation will release a new disc with Dragon Ball Z films 'Dead Zone' and 'World's Strongest' together. No specs have been announced at this time, but expect similar treatment as their previous release, which includes 1080p AVC and a Dolby Digital soundtrack.
FUNimation has also announced that they will bring the live action film 'Shinobi' to Blu-ray as well. This title was previously released on HD DVD in Japan, but will be on Blu-ray in the US. No specs have been announced at this time.
Additionally, Anime distributor ADV Films has aligned themselves in the Blu-ray camp, and will begin releasing titles in the format some time this year. No titles have been announced at this time, but the company has admitted that the decision to release on Blu-ray may affect their release schedule as high definition transfers are made.
I don't like DBZ, and Funimation does a lot of editing in their translations (Sonic X). But I'm glad to hear ADV Films is now blu ray exclusive, they are the best when dubbing. Would love to see Sonic the Hedgehog the Movie in Blu (the uncut version).
ADV is planning its more recent titles on Blu-Ray but no word as of yet but I imagine it will be series like Air, Kanon, Devil May Cry, Welcome to the NHK, and series like that so which means the Shinobi movies that ADV did will be awhile before they release them on Blu-Ray but I liked the Shinobi movie Funimation did better anyways because I believe its supposed to be based off of that Basilisk anime series or something like that
