Scorpion Releasing, a boutique label specializing in the production of definitive editions of cult horror, action, foreign, Sci-Fi, arthouse and hard-to-find indie films, has revealed that it will begin releasing on Blu-ray soon. Currently, the label releases its films only on DVD.
Amongst the first films expected to transition to Blu-ray are William Girdler's Day of the Animals (1977), starring Christopher George, Leslie Nielsen and Lynda Day George; Alvin Rakoff's Death Ship (1980), starring George Kennedy, Richard Crenna and Nick Mancuso; William Girdler's Grizzly (1976), starring Christopher George, Andrew Prine and Richard Jaeckel; and Gregory Goodell's Human Experiments (1979), starring Linda Haynes, Geoffrey Lewis and Ellen Travolta.
GRIZZLY! Love that film. Giant rampaging bear vs rocket launcher! Classic
How about Scorpion releasing The Giant Spider Invasion! Or the Thunder (Warrior) trilogy: I last saw this (haven't seen no. 3) on VHS in 1986-ish. An ok First Blood rip-off.
They also bought the rights to The Power (1984), a long lost supernatural horror flick and a personal fave of mine. If they decide to release The Power on Blu-ray as well I'd be the happiest person on earth.
