Independent British distributors Second Sight Films are planning to release a double disc box set with two films directed by Yves Robert: La gloire de mon père a.k.a My Father's Glory (1990) and Le château de ma mère a.k.a My Mother's Castle (1990). The preliminary release date set by the distributors is November 5th.
Based on the famous novels by Marcel Pagnol, the two films in the box set have been recently restored and will be complimented by newly commissioned supplemental features.
The autobiographical story of the precocious Marcel, born in Provence at the end of the 19th century, who in La Gloire de Mon Père spends a holiday in a rented cottage with his aunt and uncle. In Le chateau de ma mère, Marcel falls in love with a girl he meets on one of his family's regular visits to Provence. On one of the holidays, the family are caught trespassing on the grounds of a private mansion, leading to unexpected drama.
