Third Big Week for Blu-ray

|
For the third straight week since Warner Brothers announced they would exclusively support Blu-ray, the format has held a commanding lead in high definition movie sales. Home Media Magazine has released Nielson VideoScan First Alert data, and Blu-ray held 82% of the high definition market during the week ending January 27th.
Also, for the third straight week, all of the Top 10 sellers in high definition are Blu-ray. This week's top seller was newly released 'Saw IV', followed by 'The Game Plan' and '3:10 to Yuma'.

give it up, HD DVD? This has becoming a trend. I can see maybe 70:30 in one week in february, but the rest of it I predict would be at least 80:20. Give it up for blu-ray |

I think this current week's titles are even better than last week's. Even though HD DVD has been crawling back for a couple weeks now since it was 85-15 (83-17, 82-18), I believe next week it will be more like 87-13, or better, for Blu. |

Toshiba and Microsoft know Blu-ray is going to win by far but they're just being d*ckheads thinking they can still win |

Great news. It's really a shame that Universal and Paramount can not get their act together :-( |

I agree they're playing the sore loser role. Well not Microsoft, they're just dumped HD DVD altogether. Toshiba is being the whiny baby here. |

I think this is starting to become a trend.
If we can keep these numbers above 80%, there is not a chance in heck that Paraversal will not give
in. |

It's just a matter of time. Trust me Paramount and Universal are very aware that hardware sales and software sales now all favor blu. |

I wish the ultimate demise of the "other format" would happen sooner, but the struggle for survival, no matter how hopeless, is a strong, innate thing. Toshiba is just going to milk this thing for as long as they possibly can to get the biggest return on their investment that they can. Paramount, too, after the money-grubbing decision they made... |

Nice! Let's keep this up!
I am eager to see the day when blu-ray sales will start competing seriously with DVD sales! |

Wish I could claim I contributed but since the holidays there's been no new Blu titles for me. I'll jump back in with ID4, Ice Age, I-Robot. |
