Warner Bros. has revealed the first theatrical trailer for Trouble with the Curve. This drama stars Academy Award-winner Clint Eastwood (Million Dollar Baby) - in his first acting role since 2008's Gran Torino - as Gus Lobel, an aging baseball scout preparing for one last recruiting trip before he retires from the sport forever.
With Gus' ailing health calling into question his professional abilities, his team's partners committee arranges for his estranged daughter Mickey (Amy Adams, The Fighter) to accompany him on the trip. The job quickly turns into a journey of self-discovery for both Gus and Mickey, however, as they compete with a rival scout (Justin Timberlake, The Social Network) and, most importantly, reconnect after years of familial bitterness and disappointment.
Lately old Clit's been having "Trouble" making good movies, this one doesn't look all that great either. Might be time for the old man to leave the director's chair.
@nathanp This movie is not directed by Clint. The director is his assistant Robert Lorenz. Based on the trailer, it looks that has potential but I don't want to anticipate anything until I see it.
It looks like exactly what I was expecting actually. I kind of wish Clint had retired with "Gran Torino". That movie would have been a perfect send off
It looks like Gran Torino except with an Olds (or Chevelle?) with baseball and failing eyesight in place of a car and old age. Maybe ill give it a peek.
Looks good but wasn't Clint supposed to have retired from acting after Gran Torino? I'm a big fan of his and of baseball so I'll have to check it out either way...
