20th Century Fox UK has sent us a host of new images for the upcoming release of Life of Pi (2012). Directed by Academy Award winner Ang Lee and starring Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man: The High Definition Trilogy), Irrfan Khan (Slumdog Millionaire), Gérard Depardieu (Maitresse) and newcomer Suraj Sharma, Life of Pi is based on the best-selling novel by Yann Martel.
The film will open in cinemas across the United Kingdom this December.
Life of Pi tells the story of a young man's incredible survival at sea against impossible odds. A remarkable technological breakthrough in 3D epic adventure, PI is an emotionally captivating experience that will inspire, touch and transport audiences to a place of discovery that they will never forget.
@Nathan Arizona - I know we'll both get totally downvoted for saying it, but yeah... All I see is a wall of bad CGI which immediately makes this movie look incredibly synthetic.
Yeah I'm with Nathan Arizona and Stubblecat, I don't understand the appeal of the film, I heard the book's great but this looks completely uninvolving and disconnected from it's audience.
@DanaCameron7320: Nope. I read the original book a few years ago, too.
I just have an eye for bad (or unecessary) CGI. As soon as I see it, it takes me out of the film experience. I know that this film would be near-impossible to adapt without CGI, but that being said I think it would have been a much bolder effort to make a dark, hand-animated film of the book.
But maybe the CGI effects I'm complaining about are just ones that were quickly rendered for the trailer... It does happen...
