Warner Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on Blu-ray director Bill Kopp's Tom and Jerry Blast Off to Mars (2005). The release will be available for purchase online and in stores across the nation on October 16th.
Tom & Jerry mistakenly stow away on the first manned mission to Mars and discover we are NOT alone! Martians do exist! The furry duo must join forces with a young Martian girl to battle asteroid fields, the Martian invasion of Earth, and a gigantic alien robot bent on destroying anything & anyone in its path.
Special Features:
Blasting Off - Zany making of documentary on Blast Off To Mars with writer/director, Billy Kopp, producer Tom Minton, art director Jim Schlenker, and Emmy Award winning actor Brad Garrett from Everybody Loves Raymond

Step By Step With Tom & Jerry - A look at the animation process with writer/director Bill Kopp and producer Tom Minton
I'd much rather have the original cartoons restored and uncut than this sort of crap that's produced by pale imitators of what was a fantastic series of wonderful art.
My daughter loves this movie and we had it taped on our DVR before it got wiped out by accident.
Still, I'd only pick this up if I saw it in a bargain bin for $5 or less.
My heart skipped a beat when I saw the "Tom and Jerry" part and I thought, "FINALLY..." and then a split second later I finished reading the headline, and the rest of my day was ruined.
Why did it take so long for the Blu-Ray release in the USA? and why not announce further in advance? the movie was released over a year ago in Mexico/Spain, and Warner Bros. usually announce titles months ahead of time.
I recently imported the Blu-Ray release from Spain, since it seemed like Warner Bros has given up releasing their old animated DTVs on Blu-Ray. I would have waited, if the announcement was a few weeks earlier.
