True that. It's amazing that they go through all the trouble of putting together a package like this and just leave out the most important part.
Is everyone sure about the transfer? If that's the case, what on earth is the point? I'm a fan of steelbooks, digibooks and the like, but the studios seem to be trying so desperately to sell any gimmick. Indeed, most of the swag looks pretty nice, but without a decent transfer it's akin to putting lipstick on a pig.
@beckmen - the current UK disc isn't bare-bones. It has the exact same features listed (and the exact same cover). Looks to be not only the same transfer, but literally the same disc placed in this oversized box with titty toys.
The same set will be released in France and might change your mind. I don't know about the transfer yet, but it's the first blu-ray release in France, so maybe they'll do something new.
And, more importantly, it WILL include the amazing doc "Full Tilt Boogie" which seems to be missing from this (lame) UK release.
@ Sky_Captain85: No. Some prefer the Canadian (the one I own) and some prefer the Echo Bridge edition. Both are barebone. Do a quick search in the forum section, and you'll find lots of comparisons.
The Canadian Steelbook should not be mistaken for the original Canadian Blu. Different transfers and the steelbook is not barebones. The steelbook features the same OAR transfer as the US and UK editions, but, like the UK edition, is supposed to have higher bitrate and better compression than the US edition. The Canadian steelbook might be identical to the UK edition.
Do Want! But sad that Full-Tilt Boogie is not included with the movie. Probably one of the better movie documentaries I've seen. Damn, I want this now, lol!!!
I was tempted to get the french version so I got Full tilt boogie, but FDTD appears to be the same length as the Austrian issue (106 minutes) which has a couple of minutes edited out, that they're all up in arms about on amazon.de.
@ phobos: The Austrian edition is full length uncut 109 minutes. What they are up in arms against at amzon.de is the German release which is rated FSK 18 and runs 106 minutes. I checked this because it would extremely surprise me if an Austrian edition were cut. The Austrian edition btw is not sold on amazon.de. I will probably replace my Canadian with the Austrian one as it is way cheaper and is packed with extras including Full Tilt Boogie on a separate disc.
