Acorn Media has announced street dates and specifications for two of its 2013 Blu-ray releases.
First to arrive is Set 21 of the popular British series Midsomer Murders on January 8,
2013. This will be followed by Season 5 of the unique Canadian police procedural, Murdoch
Mysteries, on March 5, 2013.
Midsomer Murders stars Neil Dudgeon as Detective Chief Inspector John Barnaby,
with Jason Hughes as his young partner, Detective Sergeant Ben Jones. Guest stars include
Samantha Bond, David Warner, Edward Fox, Phyllida Law, and Pam Ferris. Set 21 includes four mysteries on two Blu-ray discs.
Murdoch Mysteries centers on the brilliant detective William Murdoch (Yannick
Bisson), a pioneer of crime-solving technologies in Victorian Toronto. Series 5 includes 13 episodes on three Blu-ray discs. Special features for Season 5 include:
That is great news for Murdoch Mysteries season 5's release. However I still don't understand why season 2 is not planned in Blu-Ray (all the other seasons are available and on DVD all of them exist already). I'm seriously considering buying the DVD because Acorn has replied to me that they have no idea when it will be released; I think it is a shame why having all the other seasons in Blu-ray except this one, it doesn't make sense to me. Anyway if you have any kind of information that would be highly appreciated.
There's no firm information, but I've been informed that Blu-rays for Murdoch Season 2 are a likely bet for 2013. Acorn is certainly aware that fans are impatient for a complete set.
I wish they'd sort out the early Midsomer DVDs if they don't do Blu-Rays for them, but I guess releasing them in a 14:9, non-anamorphic aspect ratio means I actually have a use for the Zoom button on my BR player though
REALLY that is great, so far I have only seen the news about season 5 but if you release season 2 as well at the same time that would be great!!!!! Do you know when we can expect an official confirmation? Thanks again for taking the time to answer my request!!!
