This holiday season, Disney is bringing the Muppets classic, The Muppet Christmas Carol, to Blu-ray for the first time. The 2-disc set will feature a slew of special features, old and new. No word from Disney yet as to whether the Blu-ray will feature the theatrical cut or extended version or both.
Brian Henson directs his late father's creations in the Charles Dickens classic, the best known (and oft-filmed) Christmas story of all time. Michael Caine plays the old miser Scrooge with Kermit as his long-suffering but ever-hopeful employee Bob Cratchit, Miss Piggy as Cratchit's wife, and a host of Muppets (including the Great Gonzo as an unlikely Charles Dickens) taking other primary roles in this bright, playful adaptation of the somber tale. Or at least it starts brightly enough--the anarchic humor soon settles into mirthful memories and a sense of melancholy as the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future take Scrooge on a journey of his lonely, wasted life.

I really want this movie, a perennial favorite, but I really dislike the treatment previously of the extended version of the flick. Seems silly, and that song is one of the best parts of the movie. I really hope that version is part of this release, finally presented in full HD like the rest. I hate that I actually want to watch the 4:3 version on DVD because of the song.
Sounds cool. Love this movie and will double dip, no questions asked. I hope they include "Where Love has Gone" since the scene does sorta miss it and it gets a reprise at the end, but it not being included won't ruin the blu-ray for me.
This will be a great release - High def pic & High def sound, good extras, now if they just include the full version with that song "When Love Is Gone"
