Disney has issued a trailer for the Blu-ray release of Peter Pan: Diamond Edition. The 2-Disc set features the film's first BD release, as well as a digital copy. The Diamond Edition will only be made available for a 'limited' time. Disney has not specified just how limited that may be, or specified any technical specs, special features as well as any release date.
Join mischievous Peter Pan, the young boy who refuses to grow up, his hot-tempered pixie pal, Tinker Bell and the Darling children as they soar away to the mysterious Never-Never land where childhood lasts forever in this magical, musical adventure!
^ Agree completely. As well as Disney does their covers, seeing something different like this is much appreciated and makes it feel special. I hope they continue this trend with future releases. Day one.
How come Disney made a great cover for this and crap ones for all the other movies? Oh well, in any case for this as for the other Disney releases, it will be steelbook/ironpack/metal case, or nothing.
101 dalmations , the sword in the stone, and jungle book blurays ! soon please. uk has 101 already, and nov. for pan. jungle book is 45 years this year !! what happened ?? sword is 50 years ! in 2013 ! mary poppins in 2014 ? 50th anniv. !!!!
This cover is awesome but I hope the 2-disc set (blue border) will have the same one since I have all my diamonds like that and I need this one to match the others.
@Robust, don't hold your breath, it'll never happen. Also, I saw it a couple years ago, a bootleg Japanese copy (had Japanese subtitles), it's a shitty film on top of everything else
Reportedly, the inserts of Cinderella say Peter Pan's release date is spring 2013 (i.e., late February or early March). Given current Disney practice, that suggests it'll go back to the Vault in late April 2014. (The bad news? That means Aladdin isn't dropping then and/or won't be a Diamond Edition; TLM is still set for fall 2013.)
@prktimes3, yup "zip-a-dee-doo-dah" is a nice little sequence, as well as the other animation/live action sequences, and pre-dating "Mary Poppins" by several years. To call it "incredible" is a bit of a stretch, and the animation-only sequences look like they were done by the Disney shorts dept, not the feature film gang. Those are far from incredible! Add to that a thoroughly dated story that appeals to no one in the 20th let alone 21st century. Besides, while I personbally don't think it's by any means a racist film, Disney will not risk the blowback. It won't be released anytime soon, let alone as a blu-ray
Back to the topic, lookig forward to "Pete Pan" - about 14 more features to go!
I wonder if Return to Never Land will come out at the same time. That seems to be their practice, though they don't always do it. Regardless, Peter Pan is a day 1 classic. Looking forward to it.
Been waiting for ever on this one since the dvd broke a year ago. Ahh children try explaining to a five year old that its not for sale and that its in a vault at disney.
@Ator the Invincible - Return to Neverland is coming out in the UK with Pan. Double feature set I think.
I don't think it'll be in the same package, since this is a Diamond release here. I'd expect to see it available though, and hoppe it is. It's one of the better Disney sequels IMO.
But the UK release isn't a diamond edition and is the old dvd cover also the extras are the same and no disney view so how can the us make a different release not in the covers but the content????????????? I think no disneyview for this release very sad.
Dang, wife just bought our 4 yr old the DVD. Will want this if it has some really good classic shorts thrown in. I didn't like this movie much, but might warm to it with blu-ray level PQ.
Love this film, used to have a bootleg VCD with hardcoded Chinese subs, the opening credits partially cut. I want this next after I get Bambi and Cinderella. Love the cover, like the Japanese Studio Ghibli covers Disney also does.
Watched this 2 days ago. @bajor27 It will be like Lady and the Tramp 2, it will be delayed in US.
