Disney/Buena Vista is planning to release director Wayne Wang's 1993 drama, The Joy Luck Club, to Blu-ray this December. Based on a novel by Amy Tan, the film has never made its transition to HD until now. Cover art, special features and technical specs have yet to be released. The Joy Luck Club makes its planned Blu-ray debut December 11th.
The Joy Luck Club tells the uplifting story of four remarkable friends whose extraordinary lives are filled with joy and heartbreak. Their Lifelong friendship reveals a mosaic of the startling events and conditions that have shaped their lives - and how these experiences have affected the hopes and dreams they hold for each of their children.
If they show this movie every year around Mother's Day, every mom in the world would be getting the best gifts. This movie always reminds me of the sacrifices and crud not only my mom put up with but all the other mothers in my extended family.
Disney's going to have show they care enough to pay attention to the quality of their masters, before I'll blindly buy any catalog title from them again, above bargain bin prices. Too many of their recent releases have been severe disappointments, Grosse Pointe Blank is one of the very worst on the format, from any studio, much less one that commands a higher premium than most.
PS. Ryan, that's not a trailer, it's a brief PPV promo spot that doesn't relay hardly anything about the movie, other than you can rent it for 48 hours, via download. Is BD.com pimping downloads for the studios now too?
