Game Change Blu-ray

Posted October 4, 2012 10:11 PM by Ryan Seiler

HBOHBO is bringing Game Change to Blu-ray early next year. The film was a big winner at this year's Emmys, winning 5 awards including Outstanding Miniseries or Movie and Outstanding Actress (Julianne Moore) in a Miniseries or Movie. Now this critically-acclaimed film, which portrays the divisive McCain/Palin 2008 presidential campaign, will be available for all audiences when it debuts on Blu-ray January 8th.

Featuring an all-star cast lead by Academy Award nominees Julianne Moore, Woody Harrelson and Ed Harris, Game Change revisits a defining moment in U.S. politics with a searing, behind-the scenes look at John McCain's beleaguered 2008 presidential campaign - from the decision to select Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as a running mate to the ticket's ultimate defeat in the general elections.

Special Features:
  • "Creating the Candidate"- political experts Ed Rollins, Gloria Borger, Karen Tumulty, Dana Bash and Jessica Yellinanalyze the unique combination of charisma, endurance and attraction to power needed by those who run for president.
  • "Game Change: The Phenomenon" - the creators of the film, authors of the book and political experts discuss the controversy, incredible campaign drama and page-to-screen process of Game Change.

I'm curious, what is HBO's Left wing agenda that they are supposedly shoving down their subscriber's throats?

While I appreciate this film for what it is, I don't particularly want to own it or watch it again. I'd prefer to just forget about Sarah Palin altogether.

So excited - I had already pre-ordered it back in August as soon as Amazon had a listing. When I saw it originally on HBO there was a moment about 20 min before the end that I said aloud, "She just won the Emmy..." and then she did. Politics aside, it's one heck of a film - I've watched it four times.

FWIW, for those who question the accuracy of the film - both the main characters real-life counterparts (Steve Schmidt and Nicole Wallace) have both said of the film "that's pretty much the way it happened". Steve went so far as to say it was surreal watching it as it was so accurate to his experience.

And neither of those people is a left-wing conspirator.

I'll wait for the 3D version that allows you to see Russia from wherever you are.

@ jpb07

Truth be damned? So, Sarah Palin was in fact a well-informed, highly qualified and prepared Vice Presidential candidate, as opposed to her portrayal in this film? Huh.

And that smokin' Joe Biden, boy. Now THAT guy is ace. So prepared, so intelligent, tons of "gravitas". We're proud of ol' Joe the gaffe machine aren't we? See how backwards it all is? No, you probably don't...sigh.

Julianne Moore is a better Sarah Palin than Sarah Palin, then again, so is Tina Fey, both infinitely smarter as well.

An important movie about the unbelievably cynical and embarrassing choice to put this nearly illiterate fame-whoring shill on the national stage. Julianne Moore is almost unrecognizable in her portrayal, and many times evokes in the viewer a surprising empathy as this woman is thrust into her new role as John McCain's "Game Changer". The Schadenfreude of seeing this stupid stunt fall apart is really enjoyable; as it should be. Watching the machinations behind facts about world history, global political structure, and basic American history, going into this buffoon's empty head, only to come out in her senseless and politically catastrophic "word salad" diatribes on national television, is a sight to behold. And the story continues! We watch as the leading voices of the Republican party slowly back away from her stubborn anti-intellectualism and her party platform-approved demonizing of various swaths of hard-working tax-paying Americans, all the while wrapped brazenly in the American flag and her self-righteous "patriotism". America is much better than this. This movie is a good reminder..
