71 Countries Submit Films For Foreign-Language Oscars, Set a New Record

71 countries have submitted films in the Foreign Language Category for the 85th Academy Awards. For the first time ever, Kenya has also submitted a film. The long list of films sets a new record for this most prestigious event.

The 85th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at 5:30 a.m. PT in the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

The 2012 submissions are:

So now it's going to be that much more difficult to winnow it down to four films about the plight of the Jews in WWII and one completely undeserving piece of shit that will probably win.

I really hope War Witch makes the cut.
It's one of the best Canadian features to premiere at TIFF in recent years.
