New Django Unchained Trailer

Posted October 11, 2012 11:04 PM by Ryan Seiler

The Weinstein CompanyThe Weinstein Company and Quentin Tarantino have issued a new trailer for Django Unchained. The thematically modern western stars Leonardo DiCaprio (Shutter Island), Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction), Jamie Foxx (Ray), Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds), and Kerry Washington (The Last King of Scotland) and will release nation-wide Christmas day.

Set in the South 2 years before the Civil War, Django Unchained revolves around Django (Foxx), a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face to face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles--dead or alive.

This newest trailer gives eagerly awaiting Tarantino fans more insight into the character of Calvin Candie (DiCaprio), as well as the film's supporting cast.

When I saw the trailer for Inglorious Basterds, I thought it might be okay. When I saw it, I was floored by how good it was.

This trailer looks good, I hope Tarantino does not disappoint.

Haters can hate on principle if they like, but you have to hand it to Tarantino: He can recycle any genre and reinvent it into something new for others to try to rip off.

It'll be nice in a decade or so when we can all start to really look at his work from a lasting critical and cultural standpoint.
