Scream Factory, the horror-thriller offshoot of independent film distributor Shout Factory, has revealed that it is planning to bring to Blu-ray director Stuart Gordon's (Re-Animator) From Beyond (1986), starring Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton and Ted Sorel.
Exact technical specs and supplemental features are unknown at the moment, but Scream Factory has indicated that From Beyond will arrive as a Collector's Edition Blu-ray and will be available for purchase in 2013.
Note: In the UK, Second Sight Films have also announced that they are planning to release From Beyond on Blu-ray. See our listing here.
This means that they DO have some titles Scream! Factory titles from MGM!!! I was so envious because a UK label is soon releasing "From Beyond" on a Region B locked blu ray. Now, Shout! has it coming! Of even more excitement to me is the hope (just speculation) that this means that possibly that Shout/Scream may also bring out on blu two other titles that the same British label are bringing out, also from MGM : David Cronenberg's "Scanners" and "The Brood"!
Barbara Crampton is a Goddess in this! MGM's dvd was good--this Blu Ray should be like opening another dimension! I was hoping that Scream!Factory would release David Cronemberg's "SHIVERS" (aka "They came from Within") but Cliff Mac (at Shout!Factory) shot that down, due to (he believes) Lionsgate holding the current rights.
@sumo8675309 The Video Dead is coming in 2013, according to their Facebook page
Very refreshing that a company like Scream/Shout Factory is doing this with cult horror movies. Also an added bonus is that they aren't trying to scam everyone like that scummy, douchy Twilight Time and their over-priced, "limited edition" bullshit. Keep 'em coming guys!
Also, and this might be likely, how about a R1 Blu of "The Howling"??? And I'm still gonna burn the candles for "The Brood" and "Scanners". Damn, I'm so excited about Shout! Factory these days. Both for their Scream! titles and Roger Corman titles, and also for their catalogue cult titles, such as "The Duellists", "Death Watch", "The Portrait of a Lady", "Sometimes a Great Notion", "The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With the Sea", "Fear City", and did you catch that awesome "Walking Tall" set??? I wonder if, since they obviously are getting a lot of Universal catalogue titles these days, if it's possible they could release a blu ray of Paul schrader's criminally underrated "Blue Collar", from 1978, with Harvey Keitel and Richard Pryor?
