Warner Brothers is putting together a Blu-ray DigiBook version of A Star is Born for release early next year. Starring Barbra Streisand (Streisand: Live in Concert 2006), Kris Kristofferson (Blade), and Gary Busey (Lethal Weapon), the 1976 musical won 5 Golden Globes including best actress in a musical/comedy. A Star is Born hits shelves February 5th.
Talented rock star John Norman Howard (Kristofferson), has seen his career begin to decline. Too many years of concerts and managers and life on the road have made him cynical and the monotony has taken its toll. Then he meets the innocent, pure and very talented singer Esther Hoffman. As one of his songs in the movie says "I'm gonna take you girl, I'm gonna show you how." And he does. He shows Esther (Streisand), the way to stardom while forsaking his own career. As they fall in love, her success only makes his decline even more apparent.
Say what you will about Streisand (and I do), I'll probably get this anyway, her movies from this era are actually pretty good, and the digibook will sell me every time. No way in hell I'm listening to her commentary though.
Another great choice by Warner for inclusion as a Digibook... Thank you Warner. Now that we are revisiting Ms Streisand could other studios consider her other major works? Fox is delivering Hello, Dolly! in 2013 which has already been announced. Would Columbia/Sony please also consider Funny Girl for 2013. Digibooks tend to sell well for major films. Please consider FOX and Columbia/Sony.
I love Streisand so this is day 1 for me... To the guy who won't listen to her commentary that makes no sense. You think she's going to get all political? What would be your reason?..Sounds so silly to say that especially when she will be talking about the making of "A Star Is Born" I can't stand Streisand haters who dislike her because of her political views. You don't have to agree with her but there is no denying that she is arguably one of the worlds greatest artists of all time so let go of the hate and just enjoy her talent.
