Warner Bros. unleashed a full trailer for Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 at this year's Comic Con in New York. Picking up where the recently released Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 left off, an aging Batman and his fiery new sidekick face the ever-growing unruly masses of Gotham as an old fiend makes his return.
The second installment in the Batman: The Dark Knight Returns series is an adaptation of Frank Miller's 1986 limited comicbook series of the same name. The animated film stars the voice talents of Peter Weller (RoboCop), Ariel Winter (Modern Family), and David Selby (Dark Shadows (1966)), co-starring Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds), Michael Emerson (Lost), Grey DeLisle (The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy) and Mark Valley (Boston Legal).
The Batman has returned after a 10-year absence. The Gotham authorities want to arrest him. An old foe wants a reunion. The Feds want the Man of Tomorrow to put a stop to him.
Once again WB's fascination with name actors that have no prior voiceover experience will probably hurt this feature's quality. Emerson is a fine actor, but I don't believe he's ever been a voice actor before. It's a totally different job and casting rookies for name value hurts the final product.
Same as with part 1; I won't be watching this, but it does make me want to revisit my Dark Knight Returns graphic novel which I haven't read in 20 years so at least that's that!
