Warner Bros. has announced the release of director Catherine Hardwicke's The Nativity Story, starring Keisha Castle-Hughes as Mary, Oscar Isaac as Joseph, Shohreh Aghdashloo as Mary's cousin Elizabeth and Ciarán Hinds as Herod. The dramatic retelling of the birth of Jesus arrives on Blu-ray on March 5, 2013.
It was the cruelest of times. Under Herod's torturous reign, families struggled to survive and yet, in the midst of utter turmoil, a young woman's faith is put to the test. Join Mary and Joseph, as well as traveling magi Gaspar (Stefan Kalipha), Melchior (Nadim Sawalha) and Balthasar (Eriq Ebouaney), on an incredible journey of faith, hope and discovery.
Technical specs and special features have yet to be detailed.
I know it's been said, but March? Really? Well, I'm a sucker for any movie about Jesus(except for blasphemous ones like The Last Temptation). Also, Oscar Isaac as Joseph sounds awesome!
Sadly, this movie was a disappointment - while it did well to dramatize Joseph's inner turmoil, Mary came off as a passive character to whom a miracle happens.
@TheManInBlu -- Right on about J-Naz. Zeffirelli films are all amazing. Plus, you get Logan-5 as John the Baptist, Blackbeard as Judas Iscariot, Capt. VonTrapp as Herod, Bilbo Baggins as Zerah, and two of the wise men are Dr. Loomis and Darth Vader! Not to mention the Virgin Mary is Juliet herself! RAD!!
Saw the news here that this movie was having a bluray release soon until I saw the March release date! Way after Christmas. I wonder why they chose it so late to release this on that date :/
