Focus World Acquires The Deep

Focus World, the unique alternative distribution initiative owned and operated by Focus Features, has acquired the U.S. rights to director Baltasar Korm�kur's The Deep. The film will be released theatrically in the first half of 2013. The Deep, which was selected to represent Iceland in the Foreign Language Category of the 85th Academy Awards, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. It is based on an astonishing true story: On a cold night in March 1984, a few miles off the south coast of Iceland, a fishing boat sank with all its men. One of the crew members miraculously survived. After six hours in the ocean, the exhausted young hulk, played by �lafur Darri �lafsson, washed ashore, only to find himself on a deadly lava field. Note: Other films directed by Baltasar Korm�kur currently available on Blu-ray are: Contraband and Inhale.
