Are typically scheduled for a four hour time period, but the more popular titles usually sell out within the first few minutes. Bu sure to "grab a seat" at Amazon's Lighting deals page a couple of minutes before the lighting deal is scheduled to start and claim the offer the instant it becomes available. There's usually a waiting list for titles that sell out and joining the queue, sooner rather than later, will increase your chances of buying the title. Remember, you will have a limited time period to checkout on the deal after claiming it or the title will go to the next buyer on the waiting list. If you are on the waiting list, do not leave the Amazon lighting deals page, but wait for an annoucement that the movie is available for claiming.
Please keep in mind that the titles listed below are only the scheduled Blu-ray lightning deals; Amazon will probably offer many other heavily discounted titles during the week and those offers will happen without prior notice. We recommend that you make use of the site's deals tool during the upcoming week and take a couple of minutes to update your price tracking list. All of the times listed below are for Pacific Standard Time and adjustments might be necessary depending on your geographic location. Blu-ray.com will keep this page updated during the upcoming week and you will learn of any ongoing/upcoming deals as you visit the site.
UPDATE #4: After a last minute change in price (Saturday), - Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Collection was offered for $56.99 instead of the $34.99 which had been advertised the entire week. Now Amazon has a new lighting deal for the set at $34.99 (Monday 4:20 PST). Good luck.
horible schedule and deals. hopefully there will be a lot more unannounced deals. i think the best deal of all is fight club (even the lord of the rings box is expensive i paid 39.99 last year). only my opinion though as i am sure a lot of people will be enjoying quite a few of those.
@tonylopez Yeah me too, nothing really on my wishlist here.
This intrigues me, though.
Saturday, Nov. 24
"Gold Box Deal of the Day (All Day): Prefer your martinis shaken, not stirred? Make sure you check back to see Saturday's Gold Box Deal of the Day for a great offer on Bond 50: The Complete 22 Film Collection [Blu-ray]. "
Don't forget ya'll, there will be unannounced deals. Which sucks because my phone is broken so I can't be constantly updated at work.
Yeah quit complaining. These are only the Lightning Deals. I bought more stuff last year of non-lightning deals than I did with them. The stand-out winner of last year for me was Season 2 of Modern Family on blu-ray for $11.49. Wasn't a LD. The rest of the deals will fall into place. Not even scared.
Last year Amazon had additional unannounced lighting deals and other significant sales. I am sure there will be more of the same this year. The fact that Amazon is matching the already known BF Blu-ray deals from Best Buy, Target, and Walmart is great news for me. Last thing I want is to waste my day making lines and trying to find movies in the b&m stores.
Brave is the only thing worth while for me, but I'll pass for all these deals. More interested if it also contains the 3D version. And I used to buy movies just they are cheap, but it's better to buy if you really want it.
looks like they're trying to compete with Walmart.. I'll probably try and get Brave and The Lorax from Walmart so I don't have to pay shipping for each and if not I'll just get Brave on Monday from Amazon
Remember last year we got scarface steelbook for 12,99 and that wasn't a LD..so not too worried..as long as we get T3 3D or Prometheus 3D for 14,99 and Cabin in the Woods and Snow White for 7,99 I'm happy...
Is BRAVE a good movie? I haven't seen it, but I love PIXAR. But how often do you see a PIXAR or Disney title (mainstream/wide release) blown out like that weeks after it's home release? They didn't even do that for JOHN CARTER (which I did like and would love to pick up for $8.99, ha).
Damn! Not ONE interesting title on there! Perhaps Brave, if it had been the 3D edition.
And I think I could blind buy We Bought a Zoo.
But otherwise? MEH. Sucks.
Maybe, just maybe there will be some other older title among these that are on my wishlist.
Lastly, I don't get it why they never DARE to also include the really popular movies and editions of them! Afraid the poor bastards will LOSE MONEY? They're so cheap.
When I first saw the selections, I thought I was the only one that was disappointed. After I read some comments, I see I'm not the only one. Hopefully there will be some unannounced deals on Black Friday, otherwise,
I was hoping the other first four fast and furious movies were $3.99 it would suck if only 2 fast 2 furious was the only blu in that franchise on sale, I might as well wait to pick up this set at barnes and noble when they are having their 40% off sale that starts 12/11
Yea, this is pretty horrible. Even last year was ho-hum compared to years prior. It also sucks that they are doing deals on movies like Brave and Tin-Tin but not on their 3D versions. I wish you could at least get the 3D version for a few bucks more.
I remember last year Amazon discounted a bunch of Criterions. Best Buy had a lot of unannounced deals, which Amazon also matched...I am sure there are more sales coming our way. That beign said the Bond 50 Gold Box Deal is probably going to be weak...last year Amazon had a couple of Gold Box Deals for BF week and they...well, it was lame.
I'll be getting the RvB set. I might get Brave for the kids or as a gift. A couple of others are intriguing like Abe Lincoln Vamp Hunter, Columbiana, or Safe House. But I won't shed a tear if I miss them.
Looks like there are a lot of price drops today! That Abe Lincoln 3D for $14.99 is tempting, however I may wait until it drops to $8.99 later this week.
Over-all, not impressed with anything this year on Amazon, just like last year, quite a let down.
They had amazing black Friday deals a few years ago where the more you bought the more you saved. I had like 5 orders with 10 Blu-rays for the maximum discount. That is really how I built my collection. Now I have almost 1,000 Blu's!
I've never understood why people like to stampede for questionable "savings", or why retailers are so rude as to dangle these deals one day a year. This year is especially bad. I guess there will always be the obedient consumer, but it's just sad.
X-Men First Class is all for me...missed out on this when it was $9.99 last year.
Like Stevo...I like to wait deals out as well. I used to be one of those people who'd always have to get things as soon as they came out and then get burned by price drops. Look at the Alien Anthology for instance, was like $125 when it was first released and I just picked it up this week for $19.99.
Well, this first list is disappointing. Thankfully, they usually have other special deals and things pop up between thanksgiving week and X-mas.
Nothing here i like - even the new Brave movie was horrible.
Kind of walked into this. Thank god. Best buy had theirs. And within two hours everything was gone already. Sucked. But I did pick up some titles from amazon to upgrade my dvd
Grabbed dumb and dumber and last samurai for 4 bucks
Bloody valentine in 3d for 8 bucks. Very cheap
Troy for 8 bucks
House of wax return to haunted hill and ghost ship for 14 bucks
At least a few more movies now upgraded to blu. And 6 DVDs now for turn in for the next best buy trade in program
BB offered Breaking Bad S1 / S2 for BOGO - both for 12 + tax. I may pick up S3 and S4 on Amazon.
True Blood series - 23 bucks + tax = so so. Watched these already so I can wait.
Spartacus sale - yes! I got them all now.
Heroes series for 12 each - tempting.
Archer S1 S2 for 13 each, not bad.
Suckerpunch for $4 - why can't more sales be like this now?!
Yeah, lightning deals are so so this year.
Jeez... We Bought A Zoo sold out in like 1 minute. I didn't even have time to click the button after the clock rolled over on the page! Got waitlisted and was like #384 in line with a poor chance of getting it. You'd think they'd keep a better stock if they're going to offer these titles as lightning deals.
(Scratch that... Waitlist worked out and I got it.)
The two best lightning sales I've found relate to classic TV shows: "The Prisoner" (which I already secured) and "The Twilight Zone" (cross my fingers). I've found some good deals over on the UK site, including "E.T." and the Hitchcock box, but I'll stick with the first two.
Just scored Brave! Had my mouse ready to go on the countdown, clicked add to cart, immediately checked out. Less than 2 minutes later, went back to check the percentage claimed, and BOOM it was 100% claimed! WOW!
How do you find out how many copies amazon has available for each item? I am particularly interested how many brave copies there were. I heard people couldn't buy it within 5 seconds of 12:20. I want to know if it sold out fast because there was a limited number of copies, or if it sold out fast because EVERYONE was online at the same time.
Got my copy of Brave but just barely...clicked on the "add to cart" the second it became available and next thing I know I'm on a waitlist...then 1-2 minutes later got the prompt to add to cart and purchase...best part of all my BF purchases are free 2 day prime shipping because I waited to sign up 1 month fee trial until this wk...also got Homeland season 1 and about 6 other blu rays my kids wanted but didn't have yet that were all under 8 bucks...my mailbox is going to be jammed next tuesday
@Django Spider, the Bond 50 boxset is already at $129.99 on Amazon since a few days back. However, Amazon plans on going one step further by having this in its Gold Box deal this Saturday, describing it as "a great offer". Evidently it'll beat the current low of $129.99.
It is worth noting that non UK buyers only get the extra difference between the VAT discounted original price and the deal price. As an example on Indiana Jones The original is Pounds 39.99, the normal pre-postage price 33.33 and the extra deal benefit 3.50, not the tax discounted value of the 29,99 of the deal. Still worth having but not the same benefit as UK residents get. So far there has not been a lot to go for and many prices have gone up during the week!
Blu-ray.com had been quoting 52.72 prior to the lightning deal, but that was the price offered by Warehouse Deals, fulfilled by Amazon. Amazon had been selling their own stock for 84.81, now discounted to 56.99 for the deal. Yeah, Blu-ray.com screwed it up, but corrected it just prior to the start of the deal. So, it's still cheaper to buy from Warehouse Deals, via Amazon.
The only Lightning Deal I was interested in (that I didn't already own) was the Sherlock Holmes box set (I'm a huge fan of Jeremy Bretts Sherlock Holmes, but was really interested in seeing the Basil Rathbone movies). Then they raise the price from 34.99 to 56.99 a day before (according to Neroazzuro's comment) and it's a no-deal for me... Bummer!
Oh, well, I'll just set a price-track on it for the $34.99 and maybe it will go down to that next year
Man. I just wasted my time on Brave. All set up, in the wait room, punched the button immediately as it became available. Added it to my cart. Won't go. 0% claimed. Try to add it again. Kicks me out. 14% claimed. Try again. No go. 37% claimed. Try again. Zip. 78% claimed. Try again. All gone. It sure let me add my name to the wait list, though. W T F?
