Once Upon a Time in Anatolia Blu-ray

French distributors Memento Films have revealed that they are planning to release on Blu-ray Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan's (Climates, Three Monkeys) Once Upon a Time in Anatolia (2011). Earlier this year, the film won the Grand Prize of the Jury (Best Film) at the Cannes Film Festival.

The French branch of Universal Studios has set a preliminary release date for directors David Foenkinos and Stéphane Foenkinos' La délicatesse a.k.a Nathalie (2011), starring Audrey Tautou (Amelie), Audrey Fleurot (Midnight in Paris), François Damiens (Heartbreaker), and Bruno Todeschini (Switch). The preliminary release date set by the studio is May 23.

For the week ending 12/25/11, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, topped the Blu-ray sales chart for the fourth time. The last film in the popular Harry Potter series was a huge success for Warner Bros. as it finished its theatrical run with an amazing worldwide total of $1.3 billion. Harry and friends enchanted 40% of their total disc sales from Blu-ray buyers.

Picnic and The Roots of Heaven Blu-rays

Next month, Twilight Time will bring both Picnic and The Roots of Heaven to Blu-ray. Picnic is director Joshua Logan's 1955 screen adaptation of the popular William Inge play, while The Roots of Heaven finds director John Huston (The African Queen) telling a story of adventure and wildlife conservation in French Equitorial Africa. Picnic and The Roots of Heaven street on January 17th, 2012.

Boutique label Twilight Time has revealed that it is planning to release limited Blu-ray editions of Delmer Daves' Demetrius and the Gladiators (1954), starring Victor Mature, Susan Hayward, Michael Rennie, Debra Paget, and Anne Bancroft, and Richard Brooks' Bite the Bullet (1975), starring Gene Hackman, Candice Bergen, James Coburn, Ben Johnson, and Jan-Michael Vincent. Next year, Acorn Media will bring Series 3 of Poirot to Blu-ray. The popular television adaptation of Agatha Christie's mystery novels stars David Suchet (The Bank Job) as beloved Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot. Austrian distributors NSM have revealed that they are planning to release a 3-disc set (BD/2DVD) of director Michael Armstrong's (The Haunted House of Horror) controversial Mark of the Devil (1970), starring Udo Kier (Flesh for Frankenstein), Herbert Lom (The Dead Zone), Reggie Nalder (Salem's Lot), and Herbert Fux (Eugenie). The preliminary release date set by the distributors is March 16th.

Paramount Home Entertainment will release the 3D version of Transformers: Dark of the Moon on Blu-ray next month. The third installment in director Michael Bay's action series follows Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf, Disturbia) as he and the Autobots make a last stand against the Decepticons. The Blu-ray 3D combo pack of Transformers: Dark of the Moon will street on January 31st, 2012.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has revealed plans to bring Take Shelter to Blu-ray. The sophomore feature from director Jeff Nichols (Shotgun Stories), this psychological drama focuses on a loving husband and father (Michael Shannon, Revolutionary Road) unsure if the terrifying dreams he is experiencing are harbingers of an apocalyptic event or merely symptomatic of mental illness. Take Shelter is expected to street on February 14th, 2012.

The Adventures of Tintin Gets UK Release Date

In an early announcement to retailers, the UK branch of Paramount Home Entertainment has revealed that it will release Triple Play and Triple Play 3D Blu-ray editions of Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn (2011). The studio has not yet revealed the official technical specs and exact supplemental features to be included with these releases. Street date is March 19th.

Director Peter Jackson's highly anticipated prequel to his Lord of the Rings Trilogy focuses on young Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman, Love Actually) as he begins a quest to retrieve a treasure guarded by the dragon Smaug (Benedict Cumberbatch, Sherlock).
