Dead Man Down

FilmDistrict has released the first official trailer for Dead Man Down (2013). The film is directed by Danish helmer Niels Arden Oplev, who also directed the original The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo film, and stars Colin Farrell, Noomi Rapace, Terrence Howard, Isabelle Huppert and Dominic Cooper. Dead Man Down is set to open in theaters across the U.S. on March 8th.

Olive Films have added up two more titles to their February slate. Both are classic French crime comedies from Gaumont's catalog directed by Georges Lautner: Les tontons flingueurs a.k.a Monsieur Gangster (1963) and Les Barbouzes a.k.a The Great Spy Chase (1964). Street date is February 26th.

Two Classic Robert Bresson Films Heading to Blu-ray

Independent British distributors Artificial Eye have informed us that they are planning to release on Blu-ray two films by acclaimed French filmmaker Robert Bresson: Au Hasard Balthazar (1966), starring Anne Wiazemsky, Walter Green and François Lafarge, and Mouchette (1967), starring Nadine Nortier, Jean-Claude Guilbert and Marie Cardinal. Both films will street on April 1.

For the week that ended on December 16th, Universal Studios' Ted won the top sales position on both the Blu-ray-only and overall package media charts. The film is the first live-action feature from Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, and the audience interest that MacFarlane has built up over the last ten years certainly bolstered his cinematic debut - the $50 million comedy grossed over $500 million worldwide.
