Welcome to the theatrical section of Blu-ray.com. The idea with this section is to close the gap between when a movie is released in theaters and on Blu-ray. The purpose is also to let you
keep a collection/history of your theatrical visits and to rate movies with a simple 1-10 score. Besides keeping your own collection of ratings and theatrical history, you can also check out
any other member's ratings and theatrical visits and see what movies that member sees and likes. On each movie entry you can also see all released Blu-ray and 3D editions for that movie.
I was completely swept away by the 2009 reinvention of “Star Trek” (my favorite film of that year). Director J.J. Abrams approached an impossible creative challenge with startling confidence, restoring awe to a dusty brand name while removing the need to be slavish to Gene Roddenberry’s original creation as it paved the way for its own universe of ...
What “The Iceman” has to offer, we’ve seen before. It’s a hitman story, a bio-pic of sorts studying the cold-blooded career of Richard Kuklinski, a mafia enforcer who murdered over 100 people during his two decades on the job, dealing with all types of godfathers and hot-heads as he tried to raise a family in relative peace. It’s a tough guy saga t...
I’m almost embarrassed to admit that my introduction to Ricky Jay was through his acting credits, watching him perform in the films of David Mamet and Paul Thomas Anderson, completely unaware of his legacy as a sleight of hand master. His magical authority would come later to me, making his accomplishments and skill even more impressive, with his v...
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen an Uwe Boll picture, going to back 2008 when his last theatrical endeavor, “In the Name of the King,” blew in and out of multiplexes with the speed of a spring breeze. Since that time, Boll has gone on to direct 15 movies, living up to his Ed Wood legacy by churning out features at an alarming rate, with one of...
Snitch is a melodramatic family drama welded, not too comfortably, onto a suspense thriller, under the heading of “inspired by a true story”.
When successful businessman, John Matthews (Dwayne Johnson) discovers his estranged son, Jason (Rafi Gavron) has been busted for drug trafficking, he brokers a deal with Attorney Keeghan (Susan S...
Busy saving the primitive inhabitants of an alien world young Captain Kirk parks the starship Enterprise - not in
stationary orbit as usual, but underwater.
Why? Who cares, it looks cool.
Who cares, it looks cool encapsulates writer/director JJ Abrams’ Star Trek perfectly.
Of the original Star Trek movies, The Wrath of Khan (WoK), was always the best. It stood far beyond the other movies. When they rebooted the movies with the first Star Trek, it ranked as a tie with WoK. After seeing the latest Star Trek, Into Darkness, I now have three movies tied for the best Star Trek films.
This is one of my favorite action movies and I was hoping that the BD release would offer DST-MA and it did - on the back cover details only. Also, the video transfer is merely mediocre and since this movie appears to have been shot in authentic European locations a more decent transfer would have been nice. This movie begs for a re-release with ...
There is obviously a joke to be made about fecal matter and the title of this picture (which has probably happened a million times) but after watching Aftershock...a total disaster "of a" movie, I don't feel like "piling" on. Which might sound mean but I surprisingly did find this movie entertaining in delightful ways I hadn't expected despite how ...
