Orndorff your review was spot on. Bravo! I think I liked the movie a little more than you did but who cares. Thanks for putting into words what I could not!
Snitch is a melodramatic family drama welded, not too comfortably, onto a suspense thriller, under the heading of “inspired by a true story”.
When successful businessman, John Matthews (Dwayne Johnson) discovers his estranged son, Jason (Rafi Gavron) has been busted for drug trafficking, he brokers a deal with Attorney Keeghan (Susan S...
Busy saving the primitive inhabitants of an alien world young Captain Kirk parks the starship Enterprise - not in
stationary orbit as usual, but underwater.
Why? Who cares, it looks cool.
Who cares, it looks cool encapsulates writer/director JJ Abrams’ Star Trek perfectly.
Of the original Star Trek movies, The Wrath of Khan (WoK), was always the best. It stood far beyond the other movies. When they rebooted the movies with the first Star Trek, it ranked as a tie with WoK. After seeing the latest Star Trek, Into Darkness, I now have three movies tied for the best Star Trek films.
This is one of my favorite action movies and I was hoping that the BD release would offer DST-MA and it did - on the back cover details only. Also, the video transfer is merely mediocre and since this movie appears to have been shot in authentic European locations a more decent transfer would have been nice. This movie begs for a re-release with ...
There is obviously a joke to be made about fecal matter and the title of this picture (which has probably happened a million times) but after watching Aftershock...a total disaster "of a" movie, I don't feel like "piling" on. Which might sound mean but I surprisingly did find this movie entertaining in delightful ways I hadn't expected despite how ...
Beatles for Sale, which was released in 1964, sold many copies, but not as much as A Hard Day's Night. The reason it sold less: the film A Hard Day's Night, which promoted the album hugely. So, it's pretty obvious what the producers did. And that's why Help! was made. But they ran into a problem: they couldn't just re-hash A Hard Day's Night. So, t...
I like the premise. Die Hard in the White House sums it up nicely. I gave it a lower rating because of its gratuitous vulgarities, cheesy dialogue, and lack of imagination in the plot.
For me this was the weakest of not only the Iron Man movies, but of all the recent Marvel tie-in movies. Also, let me say up front that I do not care about accuracy to the comic books, but I do care about consistency between the movies.
The trailer made this movie look good but after seeing it, it wasn't much. There was just something about it that seemed not right. It looked out of place. Didn't think much of the kid Harley either. Please keep kids out of these movies.
I just watched generation Um... and despite the overwhelmingly negative reviews from "critics", I actually found it quite a powerful statement- kind of a slow moving portrait of a dark mood, a lingering dissection of feelings of weakness and powerlessness-- it was hypnotic and flawed and a completely unique piece of cinema...kind of a character stu...
4 years, almost to the date, any concerns fans had over Paramount Studio’s decision to reboot the initial Star Trek ‘Enterprise & Crew’ were, within the first 30 minutes dispelled, and a new generation and legions of new fans embraced the concept of ‘new faces’ to the ‘old characters’.
All associated with this project are due credit fo...
I LOVED THIS MOVIE, were the first word to come out of my mouth when the end credits rolled, I was smiling through the whole thing, except when the movie is serious. Another thing is that if you’re afraid the film was going to make them anti-heroes based on the trailers then worried no more because the movie shows that these are bad guys that did ...
If ever the art of cinema required a reason or a proof to corroborate that its purpose of existence is much more than
mere entertainment, then you should leave everything else and watch the compellingly enigmatic and mythical,
Upstream Color. Lyrical, mystifying and at the same time deeply philosophical, Upstream Color is as much a te...
Lots of explosions and other special effects! Also, some very funny "LOL" moments. This is a great movie for the eyes and the ears but plot holes, contradictions and absurdities negatively influenced my experience greatly.
Most the plot holes are spoilers so I will not elaborate. I will say the first two film were much more intelligen...
Full of explosive energy and fresh vibes, Iron Man 3 catapults Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe off to a well-deserving bang. It may not quite muster up a kick as effective as 2008's Iron Man, it does the suit and franchise proud.

I thought the site reviewer was a little harsh giving Iron Man 3 a five. This was a great movie, beit not a perfect one. Robert Downey Jr. was fantastic as always and Shane Black did a great job of transforming (and transcending) the genre into new heights. The film has a sharp razor wit that is both appropriate and timely. Think of this Iron Man a...
Iron Man was a character that I was aware off, pre-2008, but I was never a real solid fan, or completely aware of the lore. Then came Favreu's Iron Man in 2008, and it blew most people's ideas of what a Superhero movie should be... A big part of the movie's success was deffinately the performance of Robert Downey Jnr, who is charismatic in the shoe...
I remember seeing this when I was a kid in the '80s. Before home video became the norm the studios used to re-release their films in theaters for limited engagements.
"Big man in a suit. Take that off, what are you?", Captain America famously quips at Tony Stark in 'The Avengers'. A throwaway line to some, but one that holds more significance than many originally imagined. Just what is Tony Stark without his suits? Is he really Iron Man, or is it that suit that makes him Iron Man? That line was just a hint of wh...
A David Lynch Puzzle that's worth taking time to solve!
David Lynch is one of those directors that I'm glad is out there making movies, even though I've never fully grooved on his particular style of storytelling. I admire him far more than I embrace him. When all is said and done in the career of David Lynch, he'll be most fondly reme...
Very cool, a movie from my childhood, I can't wait for when the will release on Blu-ray. This film is not just about a fight, he more about the reality of life. I love it and am looking forward to.
The real life of the movie would be the visuals, sound design, score and action sequences. Thank god, the director didn't feel the need to obscure said visuals and action sequences with relentless shaky-cam and poor framing, as so many modern filmmakers have taken to doing. The acting and direction are also sound, and the story was far better than...
Coming after the disappointing Iron Man 2, this entry into the franchise achieves something close to a re-boot. This is no small achievement considering the expectations on all ‘Super Hero’ movies following on from, and in the wake of Marvels The Avenger’s Assemble. Shane Blacks presence is indelibly and ever pervasive in all aspects of this movie,...
Movie was much better than I expected---which was not much. I saw it last night (Thursday) and the theater was practically empty.
Some would say that between Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg they corner the market on stiff acting. I don't have much argument. So, as long as you enjoy the action and the blunders in this inspired-by-tr...
When I first saw a trailer for Oblivion, I felt like it was custom made for me. Then, last night, while watching it in IMAX,they started playing a Led Zeppelin song in the movie, I knew it was made for me. Oblivion was a mix of the greatest Sci-Fi already made and yet it was still unique in its own way. Other reviewers have said that the writing is...
Saw Pain & Gain Wednesday night before everybody else (that's how I roll).
Here's a one line punny review (with no substance) for you:
Curl up with a protein shake, squat down in your seat and enjoy this jacked up flick.
Here are a couple more:
It was "Rock" solid.
I was pumped the whole time.
I left...
With the lowest expectations possible, it was an excellent family film that was heart warming and almost made me tear up. One of the year's best animated film so far!
For me, this was a not half bad night at the movies., I really wasn't a fan of Rob Zombies take on Halloween since I don't really think trying to re-create John Carpenter's Halloween worked.
I had seen this on the Monday of Midnight Madness last year at TIFF and really I couldn't remember much about the film at all. But re-reading ...
