Despite its blatant bipolar tone, “Dark Shadows” is a hypnotic retro episode for a brand new generation to be exposed to the weekly dysfunctional Collins’ family drama. The laughs of Barnabas’ time-displaced behavior and banter with Angelique surface like clockwork, the drama too, but Burton’s parlor tricks won’t win over any of his harshest critic...
I agree with willbeonekenobi and the others user reviews, just save your money and avoid this disaster. Its ashame because the trailer actually looks good and thats why I went to see it.
I saw this movie about 3 weeks ago and I found it a typical popcorn muncher for non 'cinephiles'. It has got good actors (Liam neeson is one of my favourites at the moment) Rihanna was definitley miscast but that is probably due to a lack of experience but this film is not going to win any awards (well maybe for the technical stu...
I can ony rate this movie based on the previews, since those alone confirm that I would be unable to endure watching the full thing, much less 131 minutes of it. It is rather sad that movies like this can command a huge production budget and perhaps even do well when there are so many other more deserving projects. Well at least this one will hav...
Thank you for your review. It confirms all my suspicions. Movies like this should be killed in their sleep. Sometimes even Hollywood can't polish a turd.
Every year Hollywood should set aside a day to honor this film and its creators. This is everything I have ever felt was
funny combined making this one of the greatest comedy achievements ever. The designers of this movie are "Master of
Comedy" and created nothing short of a masterpiece.
I saw it in imax 3D , the only way to go , I went to 7 pm Wednesday in Dallas and every chair was taken, I mean every Chair in the middle of the week. I give it 10/10. The 3D was on par with Avatar, which I have and consider the standard. This movie was 40 years in the making, to get every character ready. The Hulk CGI was the best so far. More fa...
If ever there was a film to help reinforce the phrase: "a mess", then Tim Burton's Dark Shadows is most certainly that
film. All gush about resurrecting (no pun intended) it's campy TV show aside, this is just another Depp/Burton outing
that uses all the wonders of current special effects as a funding mechanism. One that allows Burton...
i really enjoyed this movie, it was great, and the fact that they used real navy seals was great, had a fun time watching, great action and the acting was pretty good
“The Avengers” is undoubtedly any fanboy’s wet dream, interconnecting Marvel’s rich mythology together with a spectacle that transcends the ordinary summer tent pole. Director Joss Whedon (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Angel,” “Firefly,”) whose cult status amongst sci-fi and fantasy fans, proves himself to be the right director for undertaking this ...
Great movie, I just love how the story unfolds and the characters. This also has the second best use of flashbacks IMO after Citizen Kane. One of my top ten movies not already on BD.
I saw the 2D Avengers on Sat morning and this was the best Superhero movie ever. Can't wait for Avengers II. Joss Whedon is the man. They should get him for all future Marvel movies. It had all the right ammounts of drama and comedy and the Hulk was the best. I will be seeing it again this week in 3D. Can't wait to get this on Bluray.
please DISNEY & MARVEL let this madness stop the CGI and actting was the worst and you guys say green lantern was bad lol...this movie wont even make 1BIL make mine "DC"
I've seen the movie twice now and I absolutely loved it! The Avengers kicks some serious ass. I think that most critics have had written reviews that are essentially clones of one another, so they've missed the boat entirely.
The only thing that everyone (both critics and real people) has seemed to have gotten right was the utter awes...
It's pure fun. The last hour is pure eye and ear candy. Some of the best effects I've ever seen.
Each of the Avengers hold their own, with the stand out imo is the Hulk. The Hulk/Loki scene is my favorite.
I had high hopes and it delivered more than i could of bargained for. Amazing.
I grew up with this wonderful film and never dreamed I'd ever have it in blu-ray. As much as I did enjoy THE ROBE, I did always like this so much better. There is fast paced and action filled story that really gives the '62 SPARTACUS a run for its money. I think that Twilight Time did a great job with this release . It's as sharp as I've ever se...
Four years and five movies have led to this road. Yes, The Avengers is finally here and the hype has been justified. Director and writer Joss Whedon has delivered a magnificently entertaining slab of comic lore that will satisfy fans and the unfamiliar.
The prior films have already introduced our characters, so we jump immediately into...
see this twice over the weekend (have an unlimited monthly cinema pass otherwise i wouldnt have gone again) I really enjoyed this film found it far better than the individual films (the only individual film i liked was the incredible Hulk) this is definatly not the greatest movie of all time or even a candidate for it, but its a lot of fun. it will...
Just been to see this and did enjoy it could of done better, but there again it could of bombed. The action scenes are good to excellent and every hero gets to rock. The sound was excellent, so on bluray sound and picture quality will or should be amazing.
Enjoyed this movie good story good acting and good action overall goooood......................................................................................................................................................
As a movie-going public I think it is safe (no pun intended) to say that we have become somewhat de-sensitized to violence and action in particular. So rife is the silver screen with headshots, decapitations and all-around maiming that the body count in movies today seems as pedestrian as getting a haircut.
This movie will make up proud to be an American. Pure adrenaline rush the first 60 minutes. You can't go wrong using real troops + real weapons = real action. The story follows a platoon of US Navy Seals doing what they do best both on the battlefield and at home with their families. Navy Seals shoot first (if your armed) ask questions later. Hug...
This movie was the best of all the movies that Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor starred in together. 'Stir Crazy' was a close second but 'Silver Streak' had more depth. The dynamic Gene Wilder had with Jill Clayburgh and Richard Pryor made for a perfect romantic comdy mystery thriller. This was the vehicle Richard Pryor needed to firmly break into the...
“The Pirates! Band of Misfits” is a prime example of pushing the bar of conventional stop-motion animation to its limits, yet seamlessly blending it together with fresher innovations, but spends too much time getting the aesthetics near perfection that it neglects the quality of storytelling praised in its predecessors. "The Pirates! Band of Misfit...
I remember seeing this in 1988 it was the first movie i saw in the theater and i loved it who cares if some think it is a sissy movie somethings you never forget when you are a kid that creates wonderful memories.
Superhero movies have been around for quite a few years now, but to me the heroes always seemed quite isolated, and even if they existed in the same universe, you never really saw any connections. Well Marvel changed that concept forever, and really shows what amazing things they can do with the Marvel universe.
The sophistication and admiration this satire brings to the Horror/Comedy genre is phenomenal. Each traditional cliche is both acknowledged and flipped upside-down, and handled with complete perfection. The horror elements are cleverly dissected, and handled with the utmost care as they are ushered into the bizarre and brilliant concept. The comedy...
This movie captivated me as a kid, from the whirling soundtrack at the start (composed by the late John Barry), to the ultimate destruction of -what I feel is the most beautifully designed, and photographed- starship, the USS Cygnus. When the Palomino crew discover the dark Cygnus sitting motionless on the edge of the black hole, they search it for...
This movie has a lot of charm. Phoenix again with great naturalism as he goes against the grain and falls for the girl in an unexpected way. There's heart in this film. I love it. Touching ending.
