I saw an advance screening of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Just a bit of background on my movie preferences - I see nearly every movie of this type, i.e., films based on comic books, I have a diverse taste in film, e.g., TMNT, Amadeus, Pulp Fiction, Karate Kid, Splice, Oldboy, Sound of Music, Pina, etc., and I've seen somewhere between 600 an...
Watched this movie with my 6 year old, and we both enjoyed it. It certainly is mostly a 'turn your brain-off and enjoy' film. The 3D effects were plentiful with a handful being very cool; however, there was not anything truly ground-breaking in the presentation. The humor was directed at kids but appealed to the adults watching as well. This...
Director Thomas McCarthy’s latest film, Win Win (2011) follows in the “youth” sports movie footsteps of such classics as Hoosiers (1986), Rudy (1993), The Karate Kid (1984), Peaceful Warrior (2006), and Remember The Titans (2000), not to mention several other sports-themed movies that would love to be in that group of classics. Win Win lands on the...
There's something about baseball. It just works on the silver screen. I'm not a big fan of watching baseball in person, or on TV, but it can really zing on a movie screen. Following last year's movie masterpiece The Social Network (2010), screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, and Moneyball co-screenwriter Steven Zaillian, have fashioned this year's crisply in...
Adele is a beautiful addition to music. She has a raw, classy sense of aura. Bringing her life in her music makes her real. I love watching her over and over again
""Safe House" is a satisfactory movie that's capable of greatness. It suffers from a common lack of creative courage, terrified to leave the audience to interpretation for very long. What begins as an enigmatic actioner with a marvelous handle on pounding screen energy is slowly brought to its knees over the course of two hours, eventually sized do...
"Man on a Ledge” is an intriguing thriller, predominantly executed with an energized juxtaposition to prove how far a man is willing to go to prove his innocence. Considering the film is simply called “Man on a Ledge,” it satisfies the job of entertaining rather than being dragged down by efforts at manufacturing realism.
I think you are being too kind. The first half of this film was enjoyable, the second half was a worse train wreck than Kim Kardashians last marriage. You can checkout my full funny VIDEO review here: http://movie-jury.com/2012/02/04/chronicle-video-review/
There is no secret as to how one should approach a movie like THE WOMAN IN BLACK. One is to never expect more than you should and second is that you should anticipate to be spooked but not gored- out! This gothic ghost story is told with finese and classic- story structure... and no gore! The rating on this film, if paying close attention, is a PG-...
Love this movie. Great performances all around, especially the three main leads, with strong supports from Andrew's parents. How the footage are gathered is irrelevant, there's camera everywhere now, even 1080p phones. The most important is the realistic potrayal of what would happen if something extraordinary were to happen to ordinary people, to ...
I am a huge T&E fan. I love Tom Goes to the Mayor, Awesome Show, and Check It Out, so this movie was highly anticipated by me. I rented this at midnight of the VOD release and watched it 3 times...I had to, just to comprehend what I saw. This is not a 'Awesome Show' movie, it is a stand-alone film. It was hilarious, nutty, shocking, and original. I...
At the Theater- "The Grey" - One might think that a fine performance from Liam Neeson, several hauntingly potent scenes of reflection/mortality and an outstanding original musical score would amount to a great piece of cinema- unfortunately, that's not the case here. Some very poor over-usage of CGI wolves (which are apparently demonic and/or on st...
I totally disagree with the review posted by Mr. Brian.
This Movie is absolutely breathtaking and touching. The acting is wonderful. Hoping the Blu Ray Disc will be released asap. For those who don't like this movie, they may be Japanese or no human feelings at all just like the Japanese denies what they have done during World War II.
"Man on a Ledge" is (obviously) not a great movie but its a very entertaining movie. Its not supposed to be a masterpiece. Its a finely crafted genre afternoon matinee and there's nothing wrong with that. I think I have cracked the shell of what is truly wrong with the movie (that most people feel but maybe can't put into words).
Took my wife to see this in IMAX3D. She was only slightly familiar with the series. I have seen all of the Underworld series. The movie started off with this black and white footage of the vampires and lycens being cleansed. I am sitting with my 3D glasses going what the hell?
Then Ms.Beckingsale makes her appearance and the 3D starts....
This is the worst film I have ever seen. I walked in there with little expectations and should have left right when the
credits started showing in crappy red font blocking the air battle. What is this!? I have nothing but respect for the
real Tuskegee Airmen in our nations history but whoever made this film did it in such sloppiness! ...
I happened to catch this movie in New York at the beginning of January (2012) at the Clearview Cinema, Chelsea. What a revelation! This a small budget, (nearly) silent, black and white move made for a fraction of the cost of Hollywood blockbusters has clearly wowed audiences all over the world. In fact, in the theater I watched it in, the audience ...
In a nutshell, save your money. All most fell asleep. Well, I've been told my review was too short. What can I say that has not been said? Hard keeping up with time switches. By the time you figure out when, it jumps to another time line. Did I mention the acting is not all that convincing. Long enough now?
A wonderful, wonderful tribute to the silent era. It looks and feels like what it would have been like to see silent films in their heyday.
The story revolves around a fictional silent screen star and what happens to him with the advent of talkies. Everyone is well cast and believable. Though this is a fictional account, what happens here has...
I don't know how people can give this movie such a great review. I give it a 8 or 9 for the movie itself, but as for the blu ray transfer, it is HORRIBLE! The outdoor scenes look nice, and bright, and the colours really pop, but the dark scenes look nasty, and this movie is plagued with DNR throughout the entire movie. Really bad during the dark sc...
Call me crazy but to say that the Bourne saga was "incomprehensible", "impossible to follow", "too fast" or any of the other uncreative adjectives (people born before 1950 like to use) in describing my generation's films is hardly doing those masterful works of cinema justice.
As you might have guessed, I did not find Steven Soderberg'...
If you're one of the many hard core fans of this franchise who goes into the movie knowing what you're getting into, then it’s very likely you'll leave very happy. I find Kate Beckinsale extremely alluring and sexy. It’s quite possible that many fans of the Underworld franchise feel the same way (both men and women). If you're walking into an Under...
I saw this movie last night. It was incredible. I think many people need to understand the story is told through the eyes of a (highly likely) Aspergie boy. I knew this before it was even announced in the movie. This is just a testimony to Horn's acting sincerity and commitment. I would encourage the viewing audience to do a little research on Asp...

This is by no means the best action film I've ever seen but It is all good fun and I enjoyed it.
The picture quality and audio were both of a very high quality also, I don't think it's a movie I would go out and buy but I enjoyed it as a rental.
A decent way to spend a couple hours, but there's really nothing new here that hasn't already been done better. It's definitely entertaining as a one time watch, but I can't see myself ever wanting to watch it again.
