In the first and best of Hammer's Dracula series, Lee is superb as the seductive count, swooping low over the repressed Victorian ladies who become his all-too-willing victims. Cushing is equally fine as the tireless Dr. Van Helsing, who tracks the vampire king until their final, classic struggle in the rays of the morning sun.
Sharply direct...
Dan Curtis produced this popular TV shocker in which McGavin gives a classic portrayal as reporter Carl Kolchak.
When a series of showgirl killings sweep Las Vegas, Kolchak discovers the murderer to be an 80-year old Hungarian vampire named Janos Skorzeny (Atwater) but has a hard time convincing the authorities, who either think he's crazy or...
After Psycho, this is the best psychological horror film of the 60's. Deneuve is unforgettable as a beautiful young manicurist whose obsessive fear of sex causes her mind to crumble when left alone in her apartment by promiscuous sister Furneaux. Polanski's first English-language feature, this has the odd awkward moment but still maintains its cons...
Surprisingly effective porcine Australian version of Jaws with Harrison as an American tourist vengefully hunting the colossal razorback boar that killed his wife. Flashy direction by rock video vet Mulcahy, excellent pacing, welcome homages to Tobe Hooper and Dario Argento, and a briefly glimpsed, though well-executed, title monster designed by Bo...
Archeologist Wilde and photographer daughter Salt encounter a band of living gargoyles in the American Southwest when they come into the possession of a strange skull once the property of murdered desert rat Chambliss. Entertaining TV movie with Emmy-winning monster costumes created by Stan Winston and an exciting ending pitting the gargoyles again...
Filmed on a shoestring as Book of the Dead by a young and energetic Sam Raimi, this high spirited splatter classic tells of five college students whose weekend at a remote Tennessee mountian cabin is disrupted by an ancient sumerian demon who possesses the group and transforms them one by one into disfigured demons. Rough-edged but appealing perfor...
This enormously influential movie singlehandedly changed the genre forever, bringing critical respectability and wide audience acceptance to horror films while at the same time all but crushing the low budget (mostly British) horror film industry of Hammer, Amicus, and AIP and creating an all too-quickly boring and repetitive new subgenre: the devi...
Four redneck vigilantes kill a retarded man (Drake) hiding in a scarecrow costume when they mistakenly believe he has murdered a young girl. Afterward a mysterious scarecrow figure begins stalking and killing the men one by one in grisly ways. This TV chiller has a nice eerie mood and effective backwoods atmosphere, not to mention an above average ...
One of the best Stephen King movies, this has Timothy Hutton as a respected author who actually makes most of his money through a series of violent thrillers he publishes under a pen name. When Hutton decides to give up the thrillers and "kill" his alter ego, this violent pseudonym erupts into life to begin a series of gory muders - or does he? Exe...
I don't think I've ever disagreed with a review on this site more. This film is a blast to watch and reminded me a lot of watching a horror/grindhouse trailer comp, but better. Sure, it can get a little tiring, but that's your weakness, not the film's. This film is an experiment. There's even a disclaimer at the beginning that explai...
I have to agree with Brian Orndorf's review. Just saw it today in an IMAX theater. After 20 min of previews movie came on and was just fidgeting in my seat with my girlfriend ( who isn't a Die Hard fan ) waiting for something to happen. I'll have to admit the whole 10-15 minute car/tactical vehicle chase through Moscow was exciting, although totall...
One of the best movies regardless of the genre. Though the movie is a bit different of the book, there are no mistakes in it. Everything happens in time, everything has a cause and a consequence. Both the movie and the book makes me think that all the events in it could happen. Or had happened. Unlike many other sci-fis this one is more science tha...
One of the worst movies ever made. Three of the main characters are a whore and two moron hustlers. I turned it off after 15 minutes and wish I never heard about it. Avoid like plague!!
You gotta admit though, this film had one of the best marketing campaigns of ALL TIME. Those trailers just stuck in your mind, with that huge Bruce Willis name spread across the screen along with the stand by Beethoven 9th blaring in the background. We were all pumped to see this film (don't deny it). I actually like Live Free or Die Hard, though i...
One of the best movies ever! I have seen this movie so many times and it never gets old. It is probably the best animation I have every seen and the story is great. All of the character voices are done well and portrayed perfectly. It is impossible to watch this movie without laughing (or crying at the end) the incinerator scene is my favorite and...
Not as bad as people say... just kidding this is the worst movie I have ever seen. All the characters are just weird. The writing and storyline is just dumb and makes no sense. Not to mention this movie is also very offensive. Do not watch this movie unless you want to become suicidal.
I think this is the worst movie of Van Damme (and everyone else in the cast). The story is extremly stupid, the acting is bad (since there's no reason to act) and there characters are even worse. I just can't understand how any of the cast could say yes for this so-called "movie." Avoid!
A crazy-outrageous film that is brilliant and beyond weird.
This underrated masterpiece is directed by Gregg Araki. The film is not for all, I must add, but it's most definitely the craziest thing you will ever witness.
Warm Bodies was a real surprise. A terrific movie with real heart that turns the Zombie genre on its head. This kind of movie puts the awkward romance in Twilight to shame, as Nicholas Hoult and Teresa Palmer give terrific performances. The soundtrack is hip and spot on and John Malkovich shows us why he became a star in the first place. This isn't...
A really surprising movie! I was going into this expecting a solid animated movie... but more especially, to see some famous gaming characters from iconic video games on the big screen. The HEART, however, expressed in this movie, is something i never anticipated, and it left me with a warm, content feeling at the end of the movie.
Out of all the action hero's in the last 30 years Stallone was, is, and will always be my favorite. This movie does not disappoint. This was the best action movie I've seen in awhile.
Way too harsh. It certainly isnt going to revitalize these old farts careers, but it wasnt a giant fucking mess like the reviewer makes it out to be. Id say more along the lines of a 6/10.
HUGE Stallone fan here, but sadly this is something that would have worked better as a straight to video. Stallone and Kang have absolutely zero chemistry as a team. Sly looks bored and just goes through the motions.
The film moves at such a plodding pace that it's hard to care at all about any of the characters. Once the credits roll...
Couldn't agree more with Steve46. Quite disappointing. Kept waiting for the cathartic moment of redemption for
either one of the main characters, Quell or even Dodd,....never came. Phffffft. Too bad since I thought Phoenix
was quite convincing in the role. After it was over I immediately thought 'A long time to sit and watch a fi...
This is one of the worst motion pictures ever made. And I really mean motion picture because it's not a movie. The story is sort of acceptable but the camera handling is terrible like in the first part of Blair Witch Project. Every scene is dark, the cast is always screaming and shouting and running. If it would start with the last 10 minutes and m...
I just recently watched 'Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1' which was actually better than 'The Dark Night Rises' in my opinion. Peter Weller really nailed the part of Bruce Wayne and I don't know if it was because he was famous for Robocop but he was a natural. In 'Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2' he now has Superman to contend with ...
If seeing Gemma Arterton in a corset isn't enough to get you going, then you'd better stray clear from this poor excuse for an action fantasy/comedy movie. Once that MTV logo appeared at the beginning I knew I was in for a world of hurt. I do admit that the IMAX experience increased the entertainment value considerably but this movie fails to even ...
A WILD RIDE! I watched this the other night via VUDU on VOD with a friend and you really can't compare this movie to other movies. It wasn't quite as good as I had hoped it might be, but it was still worth the price of admission. If you enjoy the director's previous work, you will likely enjoy the ride!
