Writer/director Jordan Peele's critically acclaimed, successful, and shocking films 'Get Out (2017)' and 'Us (2019)' return to 4k UHD disc in this 'Get Out / Us: 2-Movie 4K Limited Edition SteelBook' courtesy of Universal. This four-disc release (two 4K UHD discs and two Blu-ray discs, one of each for each title) includes the same on-disc content as the previous wide standard releases. The front cover of this new Limited Edition SteelBook is dominated by a set of golden shears with the blades pointed down. Between the spread handles at the top is the haunting image of Lupita Nyong'o which was the focus of the movie poster. Below that and located between the spread blades is the face of Daniel Kaluuya. Both have quickly become iconic and instantly recognizable images of their respective films. While the shears are presented in color, the images of the two stars are reproduced in black and white. In fonts consistent with their posters and marketing material, the titles for each film also appear in white on the cover, with Get Out on the left between the handle and the blade, and Us similarly situated on the right. These elements are surrounded by a field of inky black. The shears have been given a strikingly glossy finish while the majority of the cover has a somewhat fingerprint- resistant matte finish. Again in a field of black, the main focus of the back cover is the menacing golden shears, this time with the blades pointed up. Here, too, they are spread open as a body falls in between the waiting blades. An incredibly faint Universal logo resides in the lower-left corner, while the much more visible product number is found in the lower-right. The entirety of the back cover sports a glossy finish. On the black spine, the titles for the two films are again printed in a white font that is consistent with what was used on each film's respective movie poster. Opening the SteelBook, the two 4K discs are each housed on their own hubs on the inside of the front and back covers. A double-sided middle page is home to the two Blu-ray discs. Once the discs are removed, both Lupita Nyong'o and Daniel Kaluuya are given a full-page color image of their own. The interior of the spine is black. In order to better appreciate the interior images, the page that holds the two blu_ray discs was carefully removed for photographing. As there aren't any tabs on the inside of the SteelBook's cover, the Digital Code floats free.

Get Out / Us: 2-Movie 4K Blu-ray, Overall Score and Recommendation

 

While I am hesitant to heap too much hyperbolic praise on these two modern horror films, suffice it to say that they are surprising, intelligent, and terrifying projects that benefit greatly from stellar leads and sharp direction. Fans who have yet to add these films to their collections or who are in the market for an upgrade would do well to give this release a look. Universal's new Get Out / Us: 2-Movie 4K Limited Edition SteelBook leverages iconic imagery from the films to craft an absolutely stunning product, and it comes very highly recommended.
