Paramount Home Entertainment has revealed that March 4th will mark the last titles the studio releases on the HD DVD format. All titles announced with release dates after March 4th have been canceled for their HD DVD releases (the DVD releases will stay on schedule). This includes the March 11th release of Dreamworks' 'Bee Movie' and the April 1st release of 'Sweeney Todd'.
Only a few days ago, DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg stated that his studio would remain HD DVD exclusive until they were notified by Toshiba that their exclusivity deal had been terminated. With this announcement, it appears that Toshiba has contacted DreamWorks, and resolved any outstanding issues.
No word from the studio on when they would start announcing new Blu-ray titles, but now that the studio has announced their exit strategy for HD DVD, we should hear something soon.

Several of us said this months ago, that when HD DVD died, it would die a quick death. Seems that this interpretation was quite accurate. Then, we'll be able to debate the merits of individual releases.

What -- was DW going to keep churning out HD DVD discs for the rest of eternity until they received a personal note that the format had died? Good news from their parent Paramount,

Paramount disappointed me, not by going HD DVD exclusive but how they did so, it shows that evidently we as the consumer mean little to Paramount. I wish Paramount had given us a week or 2 before dropping Blu-ray, then I would have been ok with it, still pissed it was about money rather then the sales from the consumer though.

So paramount/dreamworks cancels all releases the week before the embargo on the There Will Be Blood specs are releases(March 4th) So can anyone else put the pieces together? I'll make it simple, Blu title(s) announement next tuesday!!! I believe we will see some titles before summer(ones already replicated) the bigger titles will start in the summer.

I'll buy Transformers alright. Forgive? Yes. Forget? No way. I still stand by this thread:

It is about time!!! Although I'm sure the fact that it may be evident that a movie like Beowulf may not be selling well on HD DVD could have encouraged them to do this.

What douche bags! They all know what we want ... TRANSFORMERS ... hurry up and deliver! Damn ... they're sore losers! I hate them so much! They obviously do not care about the consumer at all, and their complete inability to properly address the public since the death of HD DVD and set Blu-ray release dates for long awaited previously released titles such as Transformers further instills it. My Paramount boycott still stands until I have a copy of Transformers on Blu-ray. Until till then FUCK OFF PARAMOUNT!

Until the inadequate replication capacity is overcome, Paramount & Universal Films will be slow to come out on Blu. Worldwide there is a shortage of capacity for pressing Blu-Ray Disc's.

If I was Paramount I would not be releasing ANY HD-DVD videos at all. How is releasing videos on a dead format going to be profitable? By still releasing HD-DVD videos this proves to me that they do not care about the consumer at all and want to cause more confusion.
I'm not going to buy Paramount videos because they went HD-DVD exclusive and don't care about the rest of us. I sure fell sorry for Paramount stock holders!

But, just like when Paramount (CBS) canceled Jericho; then brought it back for partial-season #2, ....I will forgive them for their fornication with HD-DVD, if they bring out Jericho seasons 1 & 2 in HD by summer this year. :-)
