Fox Home Entertainment in conjunction with MGM Home Entertainment have announced that they will bring six classic James Bond films to Blu-ray this fall. All six title - 'Dr. No', 'Die Another Day', 'Live and Let Die', 'For Your Eyes Only', 'From Russia with Love', and 'Thunderball' - are currently planned to hit store shelves on October 21st (October 20th internationally).
Each title has received frame-by-frame restoration by famed film restoration gurus Lowery Digital Images.
Eric Doctorow, General Manager Worldwide, MGM Home Entertainment commented, "With 'Quantum of Solace' on the horizon, Bond fever is building once again and there is no better time to re-introduce these beloved films featuring the best picture and sound quality available today to the 60 million+ HD-capable households worldwide"
No technical specs or supplemental features have been announced at this time, but we expect more information to be released in the coming weeks.

I wonder if they'll be issuing these as a box set as well, like they did (several times/iterations) on SDVD...

The only thing that makes me slow to consider picking these up are the number of dips the Bond series had on DVD. I feel like I might prefer to wait for the uber boxed set special editions of all films from No to Solace.

With a choice of one by one or a box set I would certainly always go for the one by one because I like
standardized packaging when it's available.
I'll try to get them all... looks like it's time to start saving.
I'm giving my complete (minus Casino Royale) set of Bond DVD's to my step dad.

The 3 Connery movies are must-buy's for me but I will not be supporting the Roger Moore era at all. Die Another Day will also most likely be getting skipped by me.
It does seem off that we're getting 1, 2, and 4 with #3 (Goldfinger) being skipped over. Hopefully we'll see the rest of the Connery series come out not too long after.
Also, isn't Ghostbusters tentatively scheduled for an Oct. 21st release? If so, that is shaping up to be a big time release date for BD.

Now, if they can repair/restore the two deleted/clipped scenes, one on the train and one on the gondola at the end of, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, where they'd years ago removed suggestive dialogue relating to the film strip that 007 finally tosses overboard.
Even with the pristene restored version that came out about two years ago, the missing pieces are still missing and there are noticable skips/jumps in the film sequences. Please, Fox/MGM these are no longer the prudish mid-60's any more. Put 'em back the way they was....

Josh, Here's a suggestion... Try proof reading your stories instead of trying to beat everyone to the punch... It's called " FOR your eyes only " ... "FOUR EYES!" ... Try using IMDb, it can be your friend!
Also, "Each title has been received frame-by-frame restoration by famed film restoration gurus Lowery Digital Images." -- That just doesn't read right... Try reading it outloud to Ben, he'll be so glad you do news. <<sarcasm>>

This is probably a longshot but I was hoping that the DTS-HD Master tracks were created from the original Mono source rather than having all the new foley effects from the DVD release.
But Id still be very happy to see all the bond films with MPEG-4 AVC compression with 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio.

Justin, it was so nice to meet you and Brenden at the Disney Blu-ray event last year. Being that we are the first site most people check for Blu-ray news, I am not trying to beat anyone to the punch, just get all the news up inside my very hectic daily schedule. If I make errors, please remember that I am only human, and that errors will occur. But thanks for alerting me that you are attempting to pimp your site here, and catch a ride on our huge coattails. I'll go ahead and fix that right up.

Any chance these won't follow Fox/MGM's ludicrously high pricing scheme for these movies? Or should I expect these will be $27.95 each from Amazon? I'm excited they're coming (even more so since I never got around to buying most of the Bond movies on DVD), but I'm concerned they'll cost an arm, a leg, and a pound of flesh.

It is tempting, but I'm gonna force myself to hold off waiting for more complete sets. I don't want to get stuck again with some movies like I did last time.
Although that said, it is going to be pretty hard for me holding off buying For Your Eyes Only.

Outstanding! Very exciting!
Fox and MGM, you're the best. If ever there was a film series for which the hi-def Blu format would do justice, the James Bond films are it.
Thank you so much for your attention to Blu!!!

I'll be waiting for a "Ultimate Collection" with 'hopefully' just the first 20 films excluding Craig's work. I love Craig as Bond, but since its basically a whole new beginning, it should have its own "collection" if you will. Can't wait for Quantum!

'From Russia With Love' is the best out of that six (and the best of all Bond films), so I'll definitely be getting that, and probably 'Dr.No' as well.
'For Your Eyes Only' is Moore's second best Bond film, after 'The Spy Who Loved Me', but I don't love it as much as some of the others.
'Live and Let Die' and 'Thunderball' have their good points but also some problems, not sure if they're worth it on Blu-ray, although Thunderball will obviously benefit the most from the format.
As for 'Die Another Day', well it's a guilty pleasure for some I suppose but it's one of the worst of the series.
