Code Red: Uncut Nightmare Blu-ray Detailed
Posted May 15, 2018 04:41 PM by
Code Red has detailed its upcoming Blu-ray release of Romano Scavolini's thriller Nightmare (1981), starring Baird Stafford, Sharon Smith, C.J. Cooke, Mik Cribben, and Danny Ronan. The release, which will be distirbuted by Kino Lorber, will be available for purchase on July 17.
Synopsis: Mentally unbalanced patient, George Tatum, is released from a New York mental hospital, slums it up on sleazy 42nd Street, and then travels to Florida to terrorize an unsuspecting family. Brutal, uncompromising, and graphic, this is one NIGHTMARE that you'll never forget! Originally released unrated to theaters during the height of the slasher craze in the early 1980s, this slasher-splatter classic has garnered a huge cult horror fanbase in the years since.
Special Features:
Audio Commentary with Make-up Artist Cleve Hall and Star Baird Stafford, Moderated by Lee Christian and David DeCoteau
"Making of a Nightmare" Interview with Baird Stafford, Cleve Hall, and Ex-Distributor Tom Ward
"New York Nightmare" Interview with New York Special Effects Make-up Artist Edward French
@thecalm_7: Their previous release was missing about 1m, 15s of footage. With the word "uncut" on the cover, it'd be questionable advertising if this re-release was the same version as before.
I do not know which previous release you are comparing with, but as I can see there is only 1 previous release on bluray out. The UK release from 88 films. Released in 2015 and as it seems it is 99 mins compared to Code Reds 97 mins... Weird that Code Reds should be more uncut than 88 films release and still shorter?
Since I live in Europe I would get the 88 films releasee. cheaper and i dont have to pay import taxes and stuff. I guess the extras are the biggest difference. Or?
Actually never came to see this flick. About time to do something about it! Order away! (88 films version)
@gandalf: The Code Red disc runs for 98m,9s whereas the 88 Films version clocks in at 99m,4s. The UK edition is missing about 10 seconds of "walking around" type footage, probably due to damaged reels.
@gandalf, The previous release I was referring this likely being the same transfer as was the previous Code Red blu-ray. I mentioned the "Uncut" part being on the old CR edition's cover to say Don't expect this to have the extra footage, unless we hear otherwise.
IMO, the Code Red disc actually looks a lot better than the 88. The 88 has a greenish tint to it, while the CR has a very warm natural look to it with great reds. I only got the 88 to see what that minute of footage was, and I would always prefer to watch the CR blu-ray for enjoying the film.
