Wizard of Oz Blu-ray Buying Guide (Update 3)
Posted September 29, 2009 04:00 AM by Juan Calonge
Months ago, when Warner Home Video announced the 70th anniversary
edition of 'The Wizard of Oz', only one version was listed for Blu-ray: the
Ultimate Collector's Edition. However, several retailers are
now allegedly preparing their own exclusive editions, with different content
and pricing. Confusion reigns among BD enthusiasts. This note aims to
compile the release details and pricing for all available editions, and help
our readers make an informed buying decision.
Note that this is a work-in-progress, culled from retailer information and
especially the data we're getting from various sources, including forum
members.
A. Ultimate Collector's Edition
This release contains four discs (two BDs, one dual-sided DVD,
one Digital Copy disc). It includes the six-hour documentary 'When the Lion
Roars'.
Bundled collectibles include: a high-quality replica of the film's original 1939
Campaign Book (for the first time reproduced in its entirety); a facsimile of
a budget sheet; a 52-page book, Behind the Curtain of Production
1060; and a limited-edition 70th Anniversary Watch nestled in an
Emerald City-embossed tin.
Best Buy is selling the UCE with a set of four exclusive lenticular postcards.
(We apologize for the poor quality of the picture above, which is the only
available one.)
B. Target "3-disc Emerald Edition"
The front, back and inside of Target's exclusive "3-disc Emerald
Edition" (click to enlarge)
The existence and $34.99 price of this edition are confirmed (see Target weekly ad, page 9).
It consists of three discs (two BDs and one dual-sided DVD), in a three-disc
keep case. Here is a close-up of the list of contents from the back cover.
(Emerald edition photographs by forum member Goblox, except inside
In summary, it will include all the audio/video extras listed on the UCE (see
blu-ray.com's review), including the documentary "When the
Lion Roars", but not the digital copy, or any of the collectibles.
In Canada, the Emerald Edition can be found at Futureshop. Retail price is
42 Canadian dollars.
C. Wal-Mart 70th Anniversary Edition
The front, back and inside of the Wal-Mart edition (click to
This edition has been confirmed by multiple forum members. It retails for
$19.96.
It consists of one disc (Disc 1 of the UCE), in a regular Blu-ray-sized case.
Here is a close-up of the list of contents from the back cover.
(Wal-Mart edition photographs by forum member HRC.)
In summary, it includes the audio/video extras included on Disc 1 of the
UCE (see blu-ray.com's review), but not those on Disc
2, the documentary "When the Lion Roars", the digital copy, or any of the
collectibles. Note that the sticker on the front of the case is incorrect: the
Wal-Mart edition does not include the documentary on director Victor
Fleming, the Dreamer of Oz TV special, or the Munchkin featurette. If you
want any of those, you need to buy the UCE or Target's Emerald Edition.
We will update this post as we get more information.
If any forum member comes across any relevant information, it will be
highly appreciated - feel free to post it in the comments area or send it by
PM or email.

Is there any information regarding the packaging of the Target edition? The packaging for the Amazon, Best Buy, and "standard" ultimate editions is pretty clearcut, but the Target one remains mysterious. Is it basically just the "case" from the big-ass ultimate edition? Is it a typical plastic case that just happens to have an insert with the same art as the "case" inside the ultimate edition?
ps is anyone else glad that the imports no longer look like reasonable choices? I hate to see people importing foreign editions of American movies, especially when they're only doing it because the domestic distributor failed to provide the simplified case that people are accustomed to.
I'm starting to think the people who work at Warner are a lot like the people inside the Emerald City... They just wander around cluelessly singing & dancing without a care in the world... I even called them to find info on this release and a strange sounding person remarked "We can't tell you anything now, not no way not no how"...
Heres the extras list from the WM version

jwbbud - Thanks for posting the list of features there for the WM exclusive. Looks like everything that used to be on discs one and two of the the now out of print 3-Disc CE DVD (but includes nothing that used to be on disc 3 and of course none of the new special features). It's quite curious - and false advertising - that the sticker on the wrapper for the WM edition mentions it contains those new bonus features.
tilapiah6 - The $15 difference between the Target and WM versions appears to be more than just When the Lion Roars. The Target version also includes the second BD disc of special features (including all the earlier film versions of Oz, the docu on Baum, the biopic of Baum starring John Ritter, more docs, etc).
yea, I wonder if Wal-Mart will use the digital download method, Thats a common procedure for releases where they offer the bonus content online. Not my preferred method
Great detective work here. While the inconsistency of exclusive releases can be a bit trying, it's nice to have the different options. I see many want to CEs, but all I'm interested in is the movie so Wal-Mart's version will work just fine.
The Target version seems to include everything I'm interested in and none of the extras I don't want. So, that's the one I plan to buy, as long as the packaging is reasonable in its dimensions. I'm very conscious of shelf space. The Walmart version has perfect packaging (IMO) but is missing some of the great extras. We'll see.
jwbbud, that's an interesting theory about utilizing BD-Live to access those features. I suspect you may be right, though it's still false advertising because it says "includes", not "provides access to".
Personally I only want disc 1 and disc 3. A 6 hour documentary on the history of MGM frankly sounds more interesting than The Wizard of Oz to me. I don't care about the Fleming doc or the previous film versions. But to get disc 3 I either need to get the Target version or the UCE, and there's no way I'm getting the UCE so I guess it's Target then.
I cancelled my Amazon order yesterday and plan on getting the Target version. Going to stop in on the way to work tomorrow to pick it up. I'm thinking the case might be the size of Mad Men season 1 with a slip case or cover.
The Target version is MIA so far... not in the Sunday ad, and only the DVD is listed when you do a search at their site. Seems odd that they wouldn't WANT to advertise and exclusive like that. Makes these seem a little dubious, unless they are required to hold them back a few weeks after the initial release... maybe saved for a Black Friday push?
Now that I think about it, the Target version seems almost too good to be true, especially considering the fact that we don't have good evidence that it's going to be at Target on Tuesday.
I just got off the phone with two TARGET stores in my area; one seems to definitely be getting a $34.99 version of WIZARD OF OZ on Bluray and GREMLINS on Bluray, while the other TARGET finally ended up telling me, "We dont know", after looking into it for 17 minutes
How about putting this into a table with the releases versions across the top and the features in rows and a check mark to show which features are in which release.
In fact you could do this for Watchmen too and we'd be very happy.
Who cares.
I first saw this movie when I came across it on cable a couple of years ago and after about 5 minutes switched the channel because it was so terrible.
The first few minutes (the exposition farm scene) is indeed not very interesting, but from the point Judy starts singing the first song, it's pure magic the rest of the way. Did Victim Fleming
I just noticed that the Target box appears to be the same as the smaller box found inside the UCE (just with the blu stripe added at the top). That should give a better idea of what size we can expect it to be.
I just talked with a Best Buy where I lived as I saw a blu-ray 3PC w/Book online and called up. She
knew exactly what I was talking about. She confirmed TWO sets. The Best Buy's Ultimate
Collector's Edition priced at 54.99 and this 3pc w/book set. What she couldn't understand is why
this other set was also priced at 54.99. She said the sets would be out tomorrow. If I understood
her right, she said it was 2 discs with the book.
Another store sort of knew what I talking about as he went online and went back and checked. His
boss (I could hear her in the background) told him yes, but she wasn't about to look through 15
boxes to find it.
I live an hour away from stores, so I couldn't just walk in and ask.
However; until I go in tomorrow, I can't confirm anything about this second set with just a book
and if the price is right or will change.
I have already pre-ordered my copy of the UCE from Amazon. I know it is a huge chunk to pay, but my mom, my children and I grew up watching this classic. I'd like to buy the top of the line UCE so that the entire family can enjoy any part of the package. In the future, I hope the studios will not take advantage of blockbuster classics and give the small guy, like me a break on the price.
I have been on the WoO official websites and have read in details of what to expect from the blu ray UCE. My expectations are high. I hope my purchase will be worth it.
wbshop.com seems to have the best deal for the UCE. Put it in the cart for $51.99 -- then type in the promo/sale code XB992, making the price $41.59 plus shipping.
The deal works best if you can find a single disc you want to go with it (Casablanca in the regular case for $19.xx for instance). Buying two BDs not only qualifies you for free shipping, but you can also add codes CABINWB (takes $5 off $50 order) and REWARD25 (took another $1.50 off my purchase of Casbablanca) such that I wound up with the Oz UCE and Casablanca for a total of $54.55 shipped in my cart (still waiting on details from Target edition before I finalize the order). So basically I'm getting the UCE for Amazon's price + Casablanca for an extra $3.
Saw the Target Exclusive Blu-Ray Today--Only contains 3 discs(movie, documentries, and When the Lion Roars by MGM---(no pc copy)---The size of the package is very small/thin (between size of 2 disc Ironman and Godfather Trilogy)--- price with tax between $37 to $38(depending on your area)--------for $13 dollars more you get the PC Digital Copy Disc, the Emerald watch, the 52 page Movie book, a wizard of oz campaign book, and more ----For $13 extra dollars The Wizard says go for the upgrade------Toto on the other hand would take the shoes and tell Dorothy to find her own way home!
Thanks Blu-Ray.com, all the contributers to this thread and WB for getting real about this OZ set so I don't have to have a Giant box just for the 'good disc set' and will have little need for the pedestrian graphic bools, cards and 'Elton John Watch.'
I just called Target and spoke to a guy who helped me get the Iron Man Mask BD and he couldn't say what this site has informed me of. Thanks again Blu-ray mavins and enjoy whatever set you choose
I am definitely getting the Ultimate Collector's Edition from Amazon. It was the first film I remember seeing with my mother when we came to the states from Puerto Rico, when I was only thirteen. Believe it or not, we saw it on the big screen back in 1975, in a theatre located on 23rd St, in Manhattan. I am also getting a copy for my mother so that we can see it together and reminisce. This film was very influential in my love of movies, so it's really very nice to kind of take it back full circle...
What's cool is we all thought we were gonna be forced to shell out $$ for a big box or wait until a simple edition came out a year or more later. With the exclusives, everyone should pretty much be satisfied.
Walmart version is $19.96. 1 Disc. Over two hours of bonus content: Documentary on Director Victir Fleming, Dreamer of Oz TV Special, and Munchkin featurette!
I think I may return this and go for the Target version.
I am very happy with the walmart edition. It has some great documentaries on it. I have only watched about an hour of the special features but you learn alot about the restoring process(Scanned at 4K and each frame is 50mb) along with tons of background info about the film. If your willing to get a little less for alot cheaper.... you'll be happy with this edition. The film itself looks absolutely amazing and they nailed the transfer. Wow.
Looks like I'll be hitting up Target for my copy. Seems to be the best bet for a "Normal" edition. The Wal-Mart one is too bare-bones for me but the Ultimate edition is way over the top.
I just picked up the Target version on the way to work and there weren't very many on the shelf. Besides mine there was only 4 left. Also they only had 2 Gremlins BD left.
I bought my copy @ Walmart. They had at least 20 copies on the shelf. Ask yourself this question....how many times are you actually going to watch the additional features? Is it really worth spending the extra $15-$17 for the extra features you might only watch once? The Wal-mart version makes more economical sense to me.
Target's is the perfect release and one even gets a decent keep case!!! I would run to get it if I lived in the States. So it will be amazon at 20 bucks more with a junk cardboard case, a useless digi copy and useless collectible crap. Wonderful!
Target edition seems great, wish it was 29.99 though...excellent price on the Walmart version. Loved the comment about microsoft running the advertising on this but after looking at this I start to dread what Lucas will do come 2010 or beyond with Star Wars... I wish that all of the digi-cook WB releases were set up like the Target edition though...cant stand those being diffrent than the rest of the blu-ray movies...Did anyone else know of the Walmart edition before today? And will Gone With the Wind have a similar fate?...
Ditto on the Target. 3 copies in sight (plus a few UCEs), down to 2 when I left. Didn't even know before yesterday they opened so early. (I'm such a tool )
Target is full of crap. I went there before they opened and waited then went inside just to find out they are sold out and It was supposed to come out today !!!!!
Any word on if the digital copy works with Macs or not? Warner Bros. has been TERRIBLY spotty with their support for Mac digital copies, which is part of the reason I'm waiting to pick up the new Batman/Superman: Public Enemies.
Five minutes after the store opened, Target had one copy remaining on the shelf; I picked it up, only to return it three three hours later. True to the flyer, the Best Buy Blu-ray UCE (w/ lenticular cards) were on sale for $54.99, so I went with that instead (only because I had a $50 gift card).
Apparently, the Target Emerald Edition's regular price is $39.99, so customers save $5 this week. I had a difficult time trying to justify Target's $35 asking price in my mind, which is why I returned my copy. I don't know if my shelf can support the weight of the UCE, but damn if it ain't pretty.
Went to Target this morning on my way to work and saw 3 copies of the 3-disc Exclusive Oz Set. I thought of getting the big box UCE, but I just couldn't bring myself to pay more for stuff I will only glance at and then keep in such a huge box. The digital copy would have been nice (I use 'em), but with so many people not liking them, I can probably pick that up later if I want for a few $'s. That huge UCE is going to take up way too much space for me to justify having it, and the Target Exclusive will be just fine next to the rest of my blu's.
I agree with your comments on the Wal-Mart edition. Just reading the review here at BD.com, Disc 1 of the UCE (Wal-Mart edition) is absolutely LOADED with special features. It is a great single disc BD in its own right, never mind all the other extras on Discs 2 and 3.
Just picked up a copy at Wal-Mart. I couldn't find it at first so I asked one of the "helpful" employees to help me out. The confused (to put it kindly) guy I asked not only had no idea where the product was located, but had never even heard of WOZ- ahhh New York. Needless to say, I found it myself, and it looks great!
I went with the UCE from Amazon. Tracked the package, it was delivered this morning.
You're a kid only once. Well, I think I'm entering my second childhood, so twice! I anticipated Fall every year, partly because CBS would show the Wizard. I opted out of going out to eat with my family one year because I didn't want to miss it. I'm going to have a party and invite all my friends who have similar memories.
When the Wizard was restored a theatrically released a few years ago, we went to see it at the local multiplex. It was spooky sitting there with a bunch of 50 somethings who knew every line of dialog and every word of all the songs! I hope everyone enjoys whatever edition they choose.
I picked up the 3 Disc ed at Target this morning. They had about 8 copied out and along with mine 3 others picked up. My guess is this will be sold out today unless they have back stock.
Yo DrrnHarr. I'm real happy for you and Imma let you finish. But Lord of the Rings had one of the biggest trolls of all time. OF ALL TIME!!!
On to my question: Any chance that the Walmart version has a different encode? Or is it exactly disc 1 of the UCE? I know this wouldn't make much sense but better to ask before buying.
Went to 2 Wallmarts, none on the shelve at either store. The first store told me if it's not on the shelve we did'nt receive any. (La Habra, CA) The second store (Buena Park, CA) had a copy behind the counter. Sales clerk told me they did'nt put them out because they only received a few copies.
Germtop, the Wal-Mart version is the exact same disc from the UCE. It says "Disc One" and has all the same features as Disc 1 of the UCE. If it was a different pressing, it would not have "Disc One" on it.
Got Wizard of Oz from Best Buy (Target was sold out 5 minutes after they opened) for $55, MvA with the $4 off coupon and free plush at BB, and Gremlins at Target. I'm broke again.
Word of warning to you Target shoppers - I had to hit THREE Target stores before I found their version. I guess each store is limited to a handful of BD copies of the Emerald edition. I finally had to call a Target store 40 miles away and have them hold the last copy they had.
Also, Target's selling them for a whopping $34.99 - not much of a discount at all.
For those of us who just want the movie and docs, but not the big box of goodies, this is the only option...and knowing this, Target's fully milking the so-called "sale" price. So if you do find a copy, expect to pay a lot since you have no other choice.
Well, it took a few calls, but had a Target employee save me a 3 disc Emerald Ed. Ecl. 34.99 copy! I'll pick it up after work! It has all the swag-glutted UE has,...but can't confirm the HD scarecrow footage being there, like the UE claims.
Couldn't care less if the slient films are either..bleeeech! They only had 3 copies and she's hidding mine in a drawer for me!
I also couldn't care less about the worthless digital copy not being there either.
This definately take up a lot less shelf space! The UE boxes are running in Seattle from 64.99-67.99 @ Silver Platters & Targets. And each store only has as of this writing 1-2 in store!
The Target Edition makes the most sense to me, but the supply is extremely limited. My younger daughter-in-law is a merchandising exec at Target headquarters in Minneapolis and at the store that is in their campus, she was unable to get a copy @ 11:00 am. She told me Target is giving out "rain check" coupons to hold the $34.99 price when they receive more. She also told me there is no way Target ordered so few copies of a title like this...she felt it must be the vendor (WB) using the "sell out" to cause some people to upgrade to the UCE just to get a copy. She did not know how long the exclusive status will last, but told me, based upon the response, there will undoubtedly be more exclusives in Target from WB and perhaps some other studios.
Picked up the Emerald Edition at Target during my lunch break. Used a $5 gift card so I saved a few bucks. There were two when I got there. When I scanned it, it showed there were nothing in the stockroom so each store must have a very limited number of this edition. Glad I got my copy.
Shultzy - I never thought of that and it makes total sense that they would do something like that...limit the quantity of a cheaper version that has a great supplemental section, let it run out and scare people with the "limited" status, forcing those who miss out on the cheaper version to get the more expensive version.
I'm wondering if WB also has plans for various versions of GONE WITH THE WIND - I'm assuming they would based on the fan reactions of OZ.
After careful consideration, I decided on the box set. It's only $15.00 more and will look nice on the shelf with my Planet of the Apes Evolution Blu-ray set. The Target would be my 2nd choice, I wouldn't get the Walmart. I did call Walmart to see if they had the larger box set because I have Walmart gift cards, and they are not carrying it in any stories only on their website.
So, I'm trying to decide if the Target Emerald Ed. is ONLY lacking the HD Extended Scarecrow dance sequence...and if this is ONLY EXCLUSIVE to the UE? If the Target Excl. 3 disc is EXACTLY like the UE features, minus that only, or other things? I can live w/o the swag...though I'd love to have the Scarecrow HD footage..but not for another 15.20.00!
I wound up going with the Target version and I don't regret it at all. It has by far the best packaging of any of the releases as well as containing all of the content of the UCE (I don't count a digital copy as 'content' but view it as more of a frill -- just like getting a watch or book with your BD purchase). It was cheaper and it looks to be a little harder to find -- at least for now. So maybe it will be a collector's item in its own right? Who knows. All I know is I cant wait to get home to watch this!
Visited 2 of my local Targets. Neither had it. Called another 3 Targets. None had it.
Finally just gave up, and ordered the $51.99 box from Amazon. It's really not that much more than Target, when I consider I'd have to pay tax at Target, and no tax from Amazon.
I just have to wait til Thursday, but I've gone this long, what's another two days.
I fully intended to get the Emerald version, but like a fool, waited until 3PM to go. As somewhat expected, only the UCE dvd set was on a shelf. Feeling kinda desperate, I asked a clerk if there might be anything left in the back room, and after a call, told me that there were 2 copies of the UCE,BD, but for a whopping 64.99! I figured that I could drink cheaper beer for a few nights, and decided to bite the bullet. While checking out, I mentioned to the clerk, that the Best B price was for 54.99, and he told me to bring my receipt and the ad to customer service for a price match. I intend to do just that tomorrow, but upon looking, I see a diffy between the Target and the BB? Wonder how picky Target will be? Either way though, I'm elated to own the BD version of this incredible movie, and hope that all of you enjoy it to the max! BTW...on the box cover I have, it states that it's 038.275 Of 243,000. Wonder how many years it will take to possess any collector's value? Lol!
I picked up the Target edition, you get the extra content without the extra trinkets which is exactly what I wanted. $34.99 was a little expensive but to me it was worth saving the extra money.
I have in my possession the Target Emerald Ed(3 disc) product. It has ALL the content the UE version has! Every last bit. The silent movies, deleted HD Scarecrow seq., all the newer content not seen on the 2005 release. I'm MORE than happy w/ the 34.99 price over the 51-67.99 price tag for the sway-loaded UE release! The only gliche' was when I attempted to register /w Warner BD Live, it told me my email address already existed and wouldn't let me proceed!(I had previously signed on w/ WB Reel News email newsletter--but never Warner BD Live!)
I'm calling them tomorrow@ the studio and WB shop couldn't help me! I can't access any LIVE features until this is resolved! Darn! The menu screens are no frills, but list all the content, the pkg. only lists a fraction of what's in this product!
Went to my Target at 6:30pm, and there were about eight 3-disc sets left on the shelf. Got one. Had the Wal-Mart single-disc in my hand 20 min prior, but after some googling in the store, read about the different versions on this site, and decided on the Emerald Edition. Don't need the collectibles, but figured if I was going to add this to my BD library, might as well pay a little more for the extra features.
I bought the Target Emerald Edition and also got the Monsters vs. Aliens BD Target exclusive which combos a regular DVD copy of the movie. I really don't have any need for the other UCE extras (books, watch, etc.). I'm a fan of Oz but NOT THAT big of a fan to shell out fifty plus bucks for the other extra stuff.
I was very lucky to pick up Target's 3-disc Emerald Edition of Oz. I really didn't want the big cheesy box. Note there were only 3 copies of Oz at Target and two copies of Gremlins. So either people ravaged the shelves or they just didn't get many in. This was in Sherman Oaks, CA.
Picked up the Target Emerald Ed. at a store in Plano,Tx. today and there were 2 copies left after I bought mine. I like the packaging and I am glad I did not have to buy the UCE in order to get this on Bluray.
Any other Canadians out there having trouble finding the Target-type Emerald edition? I live in Vancouver. HMV's website has the Emerald version listed, but when I went in the store downtown yesterday, they said they're not getting that edition, only the UCE (which I don't want). The Future Shop website only shows the UCE (and a couple of posters here have said that Future Shop doesn't have the Emerald edition). We don't have Target here. Walmart Canada's website doesn't show ANY blu-ray version whatsoever. Has anyone been able to find the Emerald Edition in Canada????
I went to the Future Shop at Dundas + 403 (Oakville). They have the Emerald Edition listed on their computer for around $42. But it said 0 in stock and the employee I spoke to didn't know if that store would actually get any of them.
This is a good buying guide. It lets you see how Wal-Mart is the only one selling just the movie for a good price. I have never actually used any of the extra stuff that comes with the movie. All of these posters and watches and books will end up getting thrown away or lost.
Loved the Emerald Edition Packaging, excellent print, enjoyed the restoration special feature as well showing all the beautiful work done to restore this movie. WB has outdone themselves on Casablanca, The Searchers, and now this... Can't wait for Gone With the Wind to see how they did on that one. Is anyone else shocked though, that the top two selling movies today are 70+ years old!? It baffles me, as I'm sure it would if you told someone in charge 70 years ago that it would be the case... AMAZING
Target Version is nice if you don't want the fluff. Walmart Ed. is great for those that just want the movie and nothing else. Very impressive set. I went with the Amazon one but only because I got it for $40 with a GC applied. Otherwise, I would have went with the Target one.
the_dude - don't forget to include HOW THE WEST WAS WON to that list...now THAT is an amazing looking transfer, despite some of the naysayers who question its lack of grain as a sign of DNR.
This is really dreadful. They really make it difficult to get the more consumer friendly Target and Walmart editions and make the over-priced version the one that is easiest to obtain. There should have been the BOXED SET plus either the single WALMART version or a 2-Disc set. Not everyone has the cash to get elaborate. This is such a beloved title and they really would have cleaned up selling a 2-Disc set for under $25.00, and selling it EVERYWHERE. I was lucky enough to buy the TARGET edition, but only because I was there at the store at 8m when it opened. Shame on you WB and shame on you TARGET for not thinking of your customer first and offering a larger stock.
My find was miraculous. I stopped at Target at 2:45 in the afternoon. Display shelf was wiped out. I looked among the new and current releases and it was nowhere to be found. I spun around to leave and there it was. The Target Wizard of Oz edition, sitting among some standard DVD's on an endcap. There was only one left. I consider myself very lucky after reading all the posts here.
First I went to Wal-mart yesterday to check out their version and the associate told me they would probably be getting it in in a few days or so I went to one Target and they were all out, went to the next one a few miles down the street and got their edition. Only had two more left at 11am. If Warner is making this version harder to come by at first so you'll shell out the extra for the UCE, shame on them. I love having all the extra video features but don't much care for the watch etc... that comes in the box. Well worth the price. Cannot wait till I have time this weekend to watch it. It's in my top five of all time favorite films and l can still remember having to go to my grandmother's house to watch it in color as we only had a b/w set, what wonderful memories.
I've tried twice to access trailers on my Wiz BD Live feature. I get a poor signal strength statement. I did get on downloaded, but when tried to play, player froze up, screen went black, had to unplug to reset. Tried again today..got message if I wanted to play the trailer or delete..tried to play again..again it froze up my machine. Am I doing something wrong?
I bought my UCE copy at FYE for $64.99. In addition to a $10 mail-in rebate, I got 10% for trying their Backstage VIP (different from the Pass) free for a month. Also with the VIP trial is a $20 coupon. After all discounts the total was $48+tax.
gmannino - if you paid with a credit or debit card, they'll charge you the difference once they discover their error. Knowing Best Buy's inside workings (as I worked there for several years after college), they let NOTHING pass, even something as simple as the $18.00 or so accidental discount you received.
You'll find it on your next statement. And if you just merely dispute the charge with your CC company, Best Buy will simply contact them and explain why the charge is legit and your CC company will keep the charge as is.
Best Buy is a powerhouse for a pretty darn good reason - credit card companies will ALWAYS side with them in disputes.
Here, here! YES! A trimmed and de-glutted Goner w/ the Wind BD offering would be awesome!
Other than the BD Live issues I'm having w/ this title, I'm completely satisfied w/ owning all the content, w/ paying for all the fluff! I finally finished the 6 hr When the Lion Roars mini-series last night! Love the dirt finally coming to air from those are in the know, like the REAL direcror for GWTW was really the director for Wizard of Oz, and the so-called director that won who claimed to be the sole director was only on the set 3 weeks! And the fact he won best director for a job not done is just wrong.
Wal-mart could offer GWTW for $9.99 and I wouldn't buy it. I'll never buy from a company that drives wages down, sends "swat" teams in when workers talk unions and a company that takes life insurance policies out on 20's something workers hoping they'll die so WM can cash in....
how sure are you that the emerald version is available in canada..has anyone found it yet? I really don't want that ginormous overpriced set, i just want the movie, the extras in a keep case. Where are canadians finding the emerald version?
Ya Wdm81 I don't think thats true about Canada, I went to the two Futureshops near my house, and they only have the Ultiimate Edition, and haven't even heard of this one. They said they had no idea when, or if they would get one other then the Ultimate Edition, kinda sucks, I was after that Target one as well.
Canadians: Still no luck in finding an Emerald Edition in Vancouver. I even tried calling the Target store across the border in Bellingham, but they didn't seem to know anything about the Emerald edition either! If anyone finds somewhere in Canada that carries the Emerald edition, please let me know. Thx!
I have only been successful using BD LIVE on this title once w/ 1 trailer. Every time I do the download, it works fine, then my BD player goes black and is frozen from any other manual or remote function to stop/exit. I have to unplug to clear it and restart. yesterday, I had to go into the player's functions and do a factory reset, as it began to tell me I had no capabllities to do BD Live! After the reset, I was able to once again access Live and do trivia games on my BD Iron Man title. I have many issues w/ the OZ Live. I cannot get trailers to run, and there are no other or very minor other options for this title. Not well thought out for this feature.
I ordered the Amazon edition on Sunday and was supposed to receive it today (Tuesday 10/6) since I am a Prime member. On Monday night I noticed it hadn't shipped yet so I sent an e-mail to customer service asking what was up, how could my estimated arrival date be 10/6 if it hadn't even shipped. Today I received a reply apologizing for the delay but telling me they had no idea when the order would be shipped out. Did anyone else run into this problem??? Sounds like they ran out of stock? The product is still listed on the product page as available, however.
Still no luck finding the emerald edition in canada..i might have to break down and get the 70 dollar gigantic eye sore of a box set...that makes me a sad panda :'(
