On May 31, veteran actor and director Clint Eastwood will turn 80. To celebrate it, the following day Warner Home Video will release a slew of Eastwood movies on Blu-ray, including two box sets (the ten-film Clint Eastwood Collection, and the Essential Eastwood: Director's Collection), two more Eastwood double features (Where Eagles Dare / Kelly's Heroes and The Enforcer / Sudden Impact) and three individual Blu-rays (Absolute Power, Heartbreak Ridge and The Rookie). Finally, Eastwood's latest movie, Invictus, is also expected around that time, although it hasn't been officially announced yet.
The titles included in the Clint Eastwood Collection are: Absolute Power, Dirty Harry, Gran Torino, Kelly's Heroes, Letters from Iwo Jima, Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River, The Rookie, Unforgiven and Where Eagles Dare.
The Essential Eastwood: Director's Collection, in turn, consists of Letters from Iwo Jima, Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River and Unforgiven.
There is no information as to whether the studio will add a lossless audio track to the titles that came out originally on BD without one (such as Unforgiven or Million Dollar Baby), but considering the precedent with GoodFellas: 20th Anniversary Edition (see blu-ray.com, February 1), chances are slim.

One of my all-time favorite actors and directors. I am not sure which one he does better. I loved every single movie he directed beyond imagination.
I really really really hope WB give a new transfer for Million Dollar Baby, as I am still holding off buying it, considering the movie is one of my all time favorites.
Since we are talking about WB, they only thing we will get from them is a box holding the same movies with the exact same boxes in previous releases. GUARANTEED!!!

I saw Kelly's Heroes in the theater in a 70mm presentation, overture, intermission and exit music segments, none of which ever turned up on both the laserdisc and DVD editions. I would be pleased to know from anyone if Warner has already corrected the missing parts.
The music score, by the way, was written by Lalo Schifrin, and totally unrelated to the 1940's. It is weird, for a war film, but since the screenplay itself is treated as a comedy, nobody would care!

I've learned to wait until the reviews come out; but if the reviews turn out good, I will buy the 10-film BD collection.
Another non-Warner Eastwood film I'd like to see on BD is "The Eiger Sanction." I think that was a Universal release.
But this is great news about so many Eastwood titles coming out on BD.

Nice. I'm a huge Eastwood fan. I'll be buying all the individual releases (already own most of the ones included in the sets). Sill waiting on Any Which Way You Can. It's not my favorite or anything, but Every Which Way But Loose looks lonely on the shelf.

Kind of shocked over Where Eagles Dare being on a disc with another film. That one runs 2.5 hours or more or less. Seems like low bit rate time to me?

Don't forget about these other Warner titles...
Tightrope
City Heat
Firefox
Pink Cadillac
any bets that when The Dead Pool gets announced for individual release it will be a double feature w/ Tightrope.............
Outlaw Josey Wales will most likely get a full blown digi-book release or one that is packaged by itself.

Not happy. While there is a plethora of Eastwood on celluloid, Outlaw Josey Wales is one WB controlled title that is sorely missed from this announcement. There were hints last year that 2010 would be the year for Josey on Blu-Ray. I guess they opted for these titles instead.

Very excited about Kelly's Heroes, and adding Where Eagles Dare is certainly a fine addition.
But, like many others, I'm wondering where The Outlaw Josey Wales is!

Brad1963, I totally forgot about "Escape From Alcatraz." Another great Eastwood performance.
And I come back again to "The Eiger Sanction," co-starring George Kennedy.
I'd love to see both of those on BD some time soon.

I've watched Absolute Power on HBO HD. Well I might as well watched a DVD. It had jaggies, lots of noise, and barely any detail. This absolutely needs a new transfer, and the one I watched was no doubt from a very early DVD telecine.
I hope they do it justice and I'll give it another viewing!

In agreement with everyone who says that we NEED The Outlaw Josey Wales! Hoping the member who said it will be getting a more thorough single-release is right. Eiger Sanction is another good non-WB that a few people brought up.

Very sad if you ask me. Putting Where Eagles Dare and Kelly's Hero's on one disc with obviously low bit rates. How pathetic Warner has become overall. Sure, a handful of very old "classics" like Wizard of Oz get redone to the hilt, but the overwhelmingly vast majority of Warner transfers have been crap. The trend looks as if it will continue from them.

Also, don't forget WW2 Europe also had American long haired hippies!
Kind of bummed by these releases. Kelly's Heroes is a definite. But wish High Plains Drifter was included. That movie I know can shine on BR!!

those looking for new audio and video transfers, either or both, should definitely not be expecting it. They'll put them all in a new box and call it a "Special Edition". Lol! Buncha a-holes! They really should do a new complete restoration for "million dollar baby", but that won't happen cuz they're a bunch a tight wads that care nothing about the consumer.

DCG0014,
In the Line of Fire has already been released on Blu. I have a copy and it is great. Also, I got to know that there is now a new version, which is BD-Live, if you care for this sort of thing.
Jhouston,
Oh, yeah, the hippies in WW2... not to mention Donald Sutherland's mannerisms...
Still, all the missing overture and entrac'te music is, up to now, sadly missing. Granted, the plot is weak, characters are plagued with clichés, but the music is quite entertaining, especially if you listen to the Burning Bridges vocals in full front channels playback and surround ambience.

I've seen a couple of folks her complain about Where Eagles Dare/Kelly's Heroes being on ONE disc. The link here clearly says "two-disc set". And if it's like the Dirty Harry/Magnum Force double feature it will be two 50 GB discs with a separate movie on each. With both movies being about 2 & 1/2 hours each, I sure hope (transfer quality wise) that they're on separate discs!
