Advent Children Blu-ray Given New Content

Posted September 24, 2007 12:10 PM by Josh Dreuth

Blu-ray MoviesSquare-Enix has revealed some details about the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Advent Children' at TGS07. A few scenes have been extended for this release, which are expected to enhance the original storyline. Additionally, fight scenes have been re-rendered to add dirt to the characters' clothing - better representing the director's intention for the scenes. No suplemental material was announced at this time.

Broken record. When are we getting Batman Begins and LOTRs.

I'm sure we'll know as soon as they have a date.

Great news on Advent Children. BD has done a great job of diversifying their library.

Answer: no, animation, but one of the best film

BTW, I'm a fan of Final Fantasy series, and own all from FFI to FFX (including FFX-2), and FFXII. Don't own FFXI as it's online

For those who do not know about Advent Children, this is an official sequel to the famous Final
Fantasy VII video game, except this film uses the most advanced computer graphics to date. It
continues the story but the DVD includes a summary of the game (with game graphics) to keep
people who have not played, or forgot the story, up-to-date.
It is an excellent film and amazing graphics and should be the kind of movie you would want to show
your system off with.

The plot was terrible, and the "direction" was terrible, but the music and the visuals were both great. This is a title that I hope would be used to showcase the technical capabilities of blu-ray. Anything less than reference quality video and audio will render the release pointless.

Also, hoping for an alternate ending in which Denzel dies.

I don't think the plot was bad, do you even play the final fantasy 7 game? plot is far better than final fantasy movie by a miles.

I have played FFVII quite thoroughly, multiple times. Its plot wasn't exactly the most brilliant thing ever, but it was more than adequate, and a lot better than Advent Children's was. Advent Children was basically this contrived hour long vehicle intending to legitimize its perceived "epic" climactic battle between Cloud and Seph. We spend 35+ hours chasing dude around in the game, defeat him, and pretty much close the book on him. Then they tell us "oh yeah he's not REALLY gone yet, gotta beat him again".

I think this is some of the best blu news I have gotten in a while. I thought it was an excellent movie. I can see what you are saying russ but come on it was not that bad. I think it did a good job in keeping with the spirit of the game and I know how hard it was for them to do so. I think they had to start over like 4 times because no one wanted to touch 7 in fear of being blasted to the darkest corner of the jap game and comp world.

I hope this movie isn't like the Spirits Within. I thought the movie itself looked incredible but the overall story wasn't so great. I will probably pick this up anyway though.

Remember, Japan and America share the same region. So if it is region coded, you can still buy it.
All we have to hope for is that if this is not an American release, that it will include English subs/dubs
on the disc. (Ghost in the Shell, the original movie, which was released in Japan on BD, includes both
English dubs and subs! No American release date yet.)
