Hooha, I would go based on what is listed on that site, which is 1.2 for your part of the world if you are in Taiwan. If a version 1.6 is in the works for your area, it will be out soon enough, but so far, according to the site 1.2 is what you need to be current.
How can i check to see which firmware version i currently have? all the new movies i have tried play flawlessly. not sure i need to update if it works fine. The old "if ain't broke don't fix it" thought.
I bought mine on Jan 5. When plugged into the net it connected automatically and upgraded from 1.5 to 1.6.
I've had one oddity: The HDMI output was only filling the center half of my screen while component output was ful 16x9. Going to set up and toggling HDMI on/off fixed this the one time it happened.
It could be a disk issue. I have one rented disk (Incredible Hulk) which, if paused very long reverts to a Universal logo screen and must be restarted. I've not seen that with any other disk and that's the one I had loaded when the "half screen" HDMI thing happened.
i live in the u.k and upsated my player last week. I was expecting it show 1.6 available as thats what it says is available on here but all i got was 1.2 was available,so i take it the u.k firmwares are a different version to the u.s ones.
When I insert the CD I created after downloading the latest firmware file, the display first shows a flashing "L FVU" then it says "E DISC", then the tray opens. Any ideas as to why it's not working for me?
For some reason Panasonic USA's support site for this player is not updating that there is an update available past 1.5. I haven't tried to download it and install it on my player via CD, but 1.7 is definitely available via ethernet update connected to the player.
