I'm an Australian BDP-S550 owner and I upgraded to this just last week and now I can't play anything on it. It loads, the timer ticks over, but nothing is appearing on the screen and the connections all seem to be firm and top notch.
I am having the same problem with my U-S model. After I load the "Up" disc it just sits there and does nothing. I have tried playing disc which I have previously viewed and still nothing. I upgraded using the internet download. I would be interested in hearing from other users on their experience with the 020 software.
I don't know what to tell you other than I have this player, and UP played without any problem. When you say that you did the update via Internet download, I'm assuming that you downloaded to your PC and burned that to DVD/CD? I tried that once with the 350 and toasted my player. (More than likely my fault.) I find it best to do the firmware update via the player. Are you having any other troubles, or just this one title?
I have performed a couple of upgrades on mine without problems, but they were using an internet connection via a Buffalo Airstation WLI-TX4-G54HP to the home wireless network rather than by burning CD's.
I have never had a problem playing a movie until this weekend. I tried to play Juno and it isn't playing. I downloaded the latest version of firmware - ethernet cable hooked straight up to the blu ray player and the update worked fine. It still won't play Juno.
I've not had any problems until today. I can't get The Ten Commandments to load. 5 minutes passed and it will not load, although other movies are still playing.
