The current version of the firmware on the Samsung website (September 21, 2009) is "2.02_090827_BDP1600" - the same one that shows up for the BD-P1600.

Are these two players supposed to share the same firmware?

yes i believe so i ran the update in mine and it installed and gave me a new version, did you buy yours at walmart? maybe its like walmarts version of the 1600, like costco does sometime

DO NOT LOAD THE 2/25/11 FIRMWARE! I updated my player last night and it's bricked -- just sits with the LED display reading LOAD. No audio, no video, nothing else. I'm hoping Costco will exchange the unit as I've invested $65 in the wireless dongle, but if not, I'm NOT buying Samsung again.
