As the titles have only started to appear at retailers' pre-order pages, not many details are known about the releases except that the release date of all four films are set to March 12, 2013.
Can't wait for all of them (apparently ATLANTIS and BROTHER BEAR are coming out the same day - reminiscent of last August with the 5 Disney titles unloaded on the same day). I'm waiting for the inevitable Amazon coupons :-)
Excellent, with about 15 Disney animated films yet to go Blu (I'm not including Roger Rabbit) I was thinking they might release about 5 a year for three years. Just keep up the good quality
Yes, yes, and yes!! Kind of sucks that both Hunchback and Mulan come with the craptastic sequels, but it's not that big a deal to me. If I wasn't pressed for money I would get all 3 releases
Wow two of my favorite animated films from Disney. Definitely day one purchase for me. Also, Roger Rabbit is day one for me as well. Hopefully there will be some deals to be had such as coupons and/or discounts for buying these together.
It's really cool to be seeing even some of the most underrated Disney films out on Blu-Ray. The only one we still need to hear about for the Spring is "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh". But for me, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" and "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" are the definite purchases of this particular wave. n_n
Awesome looking forward to Who Framed Roger Rabbit on Blu-Ray in March of 2013. The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Mulan 1 and 2 are good animated films as well looking forward to those coming out on blu-ray in 2013 too.
As long as they have features to which Disney has seriously been skimping on such as their recent release of Dick Tracy and Judge Dredd for example, then Roger Rabbit is a must buy otherwise I will have to definitely wait till what will be included on the disc.
Sad to think that all the wonderful and in-depth bonus features for Hunchback seem to be forever stuck on LaserDisc. Here's hoping for at least a Second Screen App or a Virtual Vault with extras. They were really awesome!
I can't wait to see Jessica Rabbit in glorious HD, glittering in all her animated glory. Besides Jurassic Park, the vision of her on Blu-Ray has been one of the things I've looked the most forward to in HD.
I will get this on day one, one of my favorite movies of all time. Great acting by everyone, fantastic atmosphere and combination between animation and real life, a fantastic soundtrack..and Jessica.
Ready for Hunchback and Mulan (not so much for their sequels though). Never a big fan of RR, but will probably pick it up. Hopefully Amazon will do coupons soon. Now to figure out when they are slipping Aladdin into the schedule....
Wasn't expecting any of the preorders to post before the Disney release schedule was posted again. Definitely getting Roger Rabbit, Atlantis, Hunchback and Mulan.
I'm very pleased that I'll soon be able to upgrade my DVD of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? to Blu-ray. It's one of the titles I've most wanted on Blu. I just hope the a.v. quality is top notch. Disney has been a bit spotty as of late with its live action releases. It's already preordered with hopes of a coupon.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit better have every single extra from the Vista Series 2-Disc DVD release! No, I won't sell the Vista Series I own, it's too nice. The China/Hong Kong MULAN film which is live-action is actually better compared to the Dinseyfication release. Doesn't matter, I'd buy this too.
But where are 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, The Black Hole, Return to Oz, Darby O'Gill and the Little People, Herbie movies, The Absent Minded Professor movies, The Kurt Russell Disney movies and more on Blu-ray disc? Also the older animated shorts? I'd rather have those compared to the animated movies.
I'll be getting all of these. I wish they didn't stick those cheapquels in the package. I guess Disney realized the only way to get rid of those is to literally give them away with the other movie.
Roger Rabbit is a classic and worth having -- but I agree with some folks here who wonder about Hercules and Aladdin. Those are two films WAY more deserving of a BD release than Mulan or Hunchback (then again, they don't want to release all their quality stuff at once. I do understand that -- they will trickle out these "B" features with a quality animated film coming only once every other year or so).
And, hell, we still have to wait 9 months for Mermaid -- which means I doubt whether we'll see Aladdin until 2014 at the earliest.
Gotham Knight Beatty has said HE doesnt like special features, HE likes his movies to speak for themself.
Don't Blame Disney for not putting anything on the disc, it wasn't their choice
Mulan 1 would have been a stronger movie if it weren't for the unmemorable songs, forced comedy and Eddie Murphy's annoying Mushu. Too bad I have to purchase it with Mulan 2; I'm not a fan of Disney DTV sequels; it would have been better if the studio would've stop making unnecessary sequels like this and Pocahantas 2. Shame on Disney for making it a two-pack, I've would've decided to purchase Mulan 1 alone and skip the sequel. On the plus side, Roger Rabbit is coming to Blu-Ray.
@Blu-vie, if you mean those Steelboxes you get at Best Buy, Viva cases I guess they're called, so far they've only been available for Pixar films (Cars 2, Brave, Finding Nemo) and Disney Platinum releases (Lion King, Cinderella), so probably none of the above titles will qualify, but who knows. I'm curious to see if they offer one for "Peter Pan" in Feb
I thought Aladdin was suppose to come out this fall? Anyways, this is a definite purchase when Amazon attaches an 8 dollar off coupon for these titles. It's going happen soon enough, patience is a virtue.
Are people here bummed out about the sequels attached to the first movie? My friends are, but I keep telling them its not that bad. Its just an extra little bonus or guilty pleasure to watch. Yet they persist. :/
The Little Mermaid was announced for September I believe. And Aladdin for spring. Both are coming for sure this coming new year unless delayed. The Little Mermaid and Aladdin art here on Blu-ray aren't the official box arts though. Still not sure where The Little Mermaid art came from.
I love Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Mulan and the Hunchback of Notre Dame so I know that I will get all of these in the future. I haven't seen Brother Bear but I always thought that it looked interesting, so I will probably get this as well just to check it out
Glad to get Mulan, and even Hunchback (flawed, but lots of goodness). Can skip that monstrosity roger rabbit, with it's lack of story, strong characterizations, and crappy "animation" that never stops moving and is as ugly as can be.
