A Most Violent Year was A Most Brilliant Film. JC Chandor creates edge-of-your-seat tension in a beautifully shot film and does so without ever resorting to the overdone violence seen in many of today's films. Plus Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain's chemistry translates to two of their best performances. Easily a Day 1 buy and my second favorite of the year after Birdman.
