Amazon's Blu-ray Deal of the Week affects Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and Joss Whedon's Dollhouse: Season One and Firefly: The Complete Series sets. Through March 15th, Amazon is offering the packages at a 79% discount from their respective MSRPs.
Dollhouse is a science-fiction thriller about a secret organization - the "Dollhouse" of the title - specializing in providing the highest bidders with Actives; these are people whose minds can be wiped clean and then reprogrammed to fit any personality matrix. However, when one Active, Echo (Eliza Dushku, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), begins regaining traces of both previous personalities as well as her memories prior to joining the Dollhouse, she begins a journey of self-discovery with chilling political and global implications.
The three-disc set offers all thirteen episodes of Season One alongside behind-the-scenes documentaries and cast/crew interviews, audio commentaries on selected episode, as well as the alternate version of the series' pilot episode.
For this week, Dollhouse: Season One is $14.99.
Firefly, on the other hand, is a lighter program about a group of space pirates moving from one illegal job to the next while trying to evade the attentions of the vast Alliance that rules over the galaxy. The three-disc set collects all fourteen episodes from the short-lived Western/sci-fi hybrid, including:
"Serenity"
"The Train Job"
"Bushwhacked"
"Shindig"
"Safe"
"Our Mrs. Reynolds"
"Jaynestown"
"Out of Gas"
"Ariel"
"War Stories"
"Trash"
"The Message"
"Heart of Gold"
"Objects in Space"
The Firefly package offers 1080p transfers and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio tracks alongside many special features, such as behind-the-scenes featurettes and audio commentaries on selected episodes.
Firefly: The Complete Series is $18.49.
These deals expire at 12 AM PST/3 AM EST next Sunday, March 16th.
I would think those interested in these titles would have already had them for sometime. Especially since they have been frequently marked down to these price points over the last 5 or so years.
