Pound of Flesh (2015) Blu-ray

Entertainment One has announced the Blu-ray release of director Ernie Barbarash's Pound of Flesh (2015), starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, his son Kristopher Van Varenberg, John Ralston, William B Davis and Charlotte Peters. The martial arts film arrives on Blu-ray on June 23rd. Synopsis: In China to donate his kidney to his dying niece, Deacon (Van Damme), a former black-ops agent, awakes the day before the operation to find he is the latest victim of organ theft. Stitched up and pissed-off, Deacon descends from his opulent hotel in search of his stolen kidney and carves a blood-soaked path through the darkest corners of the city – brothels, fight clubs, back-alley black markets, and elite billionaire estates. The clock is ticking for his niece and with each step he loses blood; Deacon with the help of his former underworld connections and his civilian brother will journey through society's seedy underbelly, proving to anyone who crosses their path, nothing means more to a man than his flesh and blood. Pound of Flesh is presented in 1080p with DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround. The film will have a limited theatrical engagement on May 20th. Special features have yet to be detailed.

Hope this is good. Trailer is really hit or miss but I liked Barbarash's other JC movies, Assassination Games and Six Bullets.

John Salvitti, a friend of Donnie Yen and his assistant fight choreographer. He choreographed the fight scenes in this film. So, they should look good.

Looking forward to seeing the late Daren Shalahvi in this. R.I.P.

Not entirely sure why they'd prefer an older kidney soaked with booze but what the Hell, I'm good with it. I wouldn't go to the theater to see it but when it pops out on disc, I'll likely pick it up. Good to see JCVD doing something again.
