House of Cards: The Complete Fifth Season Blu-ray
Posted August 8, 2017 09:37 PM by
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release on Blu-ray House of Cards: The Complete Fifth Season. The four-disc box set will be available for purchase on October 3.
There are no special features listed for this upcoming release.
Synopsis: In the midst of the presidential election, tensions mount in the White House as Frank (Golden Globe winner Kevin Spacey) and Claire (Golden Globe winner Robin Wright) continue to navigate their political careers and redefine their relationships – particularly with each other. Season five of the Emmy Award-winning political drama is marked by violent power plays, new alliances, stunning betrayals and, as always, a desire to win at any cost – and not just from Frank Underwood.
"Greg M Great! But where's the UHD blu-ray 4K?" I would like to see a 4K release from Netflix since they stream in 4K, even though I don't own a 4K TV or a UHD Blu-ray player. Although when reviewing Daredevil Season 1 they said the high bit-rate 1080p was better than the 4K stream.
@Canada Almost anything on BD is going to be better, in terms of bit-rate and compression artifacts, than the Netflix streaming counterpart, save for Breaking Bad - Season 4, which got remastered for 4K and eliminated the DNR and banding that plagued the BD release.
It looks like yet another barebones HoC release. Who wants to bet that when the series wraps (hopefully next season) that a complete series box set will include an exclusive special features disc for that set? Either way, I won't be picking it up, as this season sucked a footlong.
Why must they insist on the garbage digipak for the US release? I bought the first 3 seasons on sale and was ripping the stupid cardboard sleeves getting the discs out. I shouldn't have to import from Europe to get proper packaging.
@Herry Dunston; that was only for streaming and it's no longer possible to listen as its been removed. (Or I just can't access it on my appletv gen4)
I purchased the first two seasons as Fincher is my favorite director working today (followed closely by Villenueve/ Soderbergh), but stopped because of the lack of extras. Hopefully a complete series boxset will happen with extras but until then I'm saving my money.
